Yes there have been people who has installed the kit themselves. It is fairly easy. The will be a ride differance, but it is mostly do to the better and stiffer shocks and springs that are added with the kit.

Article'll give you a good idea of whats involved.

I installed mine, did all the cutting and fitting at least. Wasn't hard. Just be careful while cutting the channel to fit the bracket into. It's easy to cut out too much.
You might want to pay a proffessional to weld up the brackets, especially if you're inexperienced. Usually goes for one hour billable. I'm a decent welder but I payed a shop in my area $80. That way if my stuff breaks I've got someone to blame other than me! lol

Rides nice. Better than I expected. I wasn't involved with the install.

I did it myself a couple of years ago. Alot better geometry as moving the a-arm plates changes front roll-center to help handling. Also allows you to use better shock and any lb spring combination you want to use, depending on motor and if its for street and/or track. Very good upgrade, especially if you can do the work yourself.

I was wondering about the shocks in the kit I would prefer the 12 way adjustable shocks QA1 has for the 4th gens is there a 12way available for that setup.
I am going to install the system myself I welded before for a few years 8hrs a day 5 days a week. It sucked and after the second trip the the ER because of flashburn, I got out of it but I'm positive I can handel it.
Also, I didn't order the shocks with the kit do you think I should get the shock before I install the system?

I'm sure you can probobly get away with using whatever brand coil-over shock you want, QA1, AFCO, Koni and who knows how many others. You just have to find what has the right stroke and size to fit the DSE specs.
I wanted to run the double adjustable AFCO's originally, but then I came the realization that I will probobly never need to adjust my set-up so specifically for me to warrant spending two times the money on a set of shocks.
just my $.02
I bought the Koni's at the same time, with the LCA's (yeah yeah useless I know, but I don't trust the a-arms that came with my car) so that I could do a little mock up and see what they'd look like at full suspension droop and if I had any frame issues.

Instead of starting a new thread I figured I would use this one. Did DSE just have a price increase on their Speed Kits? I swore that the Speed 2 kit was around $2300 or am I mistaken. Thanks

I think your right it looks like all the speed kits went up. That sucks because they were all but unobtainable before the increase. I wanna say the speed kit 1 was around $1200 something and now its almost $1400.

Been there tried that. Just get the Koni's. The QA1's are bigger diameter and don't have a long enough shock body to fit. Since the coilover is designed to go in upside down you need ALOT of length on top to clear the stock frame opening and the DSE bracket.
Plus the Koni's are WAY better than the QA1's!
