I want to make some nerf bars for my truck (non pro-touring, sorry) and would like to know what you think I should use for the wall thickness of the main bar in this pic.
Thanks,
Scot

I wouldn't go much bigger then .095. The thing you have to worry about is hanging a big heavy piece of tubing off the frame. The heavier it is the more bracketry you have to have... Besides, the bar is only as strong as the mounts and I would rather see the bar bend then transferring a lot of stress into the frame...

I was thinking .083". But didn't know if it would bend if my fat @ss stood on the step.

the standard for pre runner bumpers and nerf bars is 1.75x.120 wall. anything else WILL bend and deform if you actually hit a rock.

I'd use DOM tube and go with .134 wall.

I built all my nerf bars and bumpers for my jeeps with .120 wall thickness and they have all held up well.

as louie stated above, 1.75 by .120 wall DOM for this baby!
