Not mine but coolest Firebird on the planet and its in Europe, 700hp, is a match for 935s, one of my fav cars of all time and an inspiration for my build to what a piece of Detroit muscle can do on a roadrace track.
Check the Youtube vids below that thing is nasty....this car proves European cars are not all that.

This is my 1968 Firebird.
Fronts: 17 x 7 torq-thrusts, 4" backspace, 225/45-17 tires
Rears: 17 x 8 torq-thrusts, 4" backspace, 245/45-17 tires
Have to admit I'm strongly considering U.S. Mag's Bandit wheels...

A lot of great looking birds!
Here what I have planned for mine
I am super late to looking at these bird, what a monster thread wouldn't have thought so many people like did the firebirds.
What hood is that? Hypothetically speaking anyway since its a render
A 69 TA hood on a 67 bird? Will those even fit? I am assuming it would take quite a bit of " massaging" ( aka work) to make that a reality, I love the look though.

67-69 hoods are the same. The latch is supposedly different, but my reproduction hood isn't suppose to work with a 67 latch and it does

Thanks that makes sense, I knew the 67-68 hoods were pretty much identical in terms of size, but I wasn't sure that you could get the 69 one to fit. Interesting that I didn't realize that might have to put that into my plans on my 68 once I actually start building.

Thanks! Everyone says, "Hey, is it a bandit?" Guess I saw that coming though. I grew up watching road racing and I always loved the race cars from the 70's and 80's that had the gold bbs RC wheels and the later gold race wheels that looked just like mine. I did steal a few other cues from the bandit cars though!
I wanted the car to have a kick ass stereo but look like if you peeked in the window it had no stereo at all. I'm using a remote-located head unit with an iPod dock that will fold up out of the way. The two switches on either side are the power window switches and the knob in the middle is the gain control for the sub woofer. The shop made the little aluminum backing plate they are mounted on. Instead of hiding the ugly knob that came with the amp I found a vintage black and gold tone knob off a gibson guitar and with a little fiddling it fit on the gain control knob that came with the sub. You can see the iPod dock in the bottom of the pic.
The Zeppelin Icarus shift knob is from hotrodshiftknobs.com. It's made from an old 70's Zeppelin pin. If y'all have never heard of the site it is amazing. They have HUNDREDS of custom made shift knobs.
93457
93474
They built me a "shelf" where the back seat used to be and the amp, crossovers, head unit, and sub are located back there. The sub is a down-firing 10" in it's own sealed enclosure behind the passenger so it can be easily lifted out and removed. I also wanted to keep the weight of the stereo and sub off the rear end unlike in a lot of cars where the sub(s) takes up the whole trunk and hangs over the rear wheels. (there is also a proper fuel cell in the plan down the road) We used the armrests in the side panels as support for the cover to keep it simple.
93465
93466
93471
there is a port for the sub cut out at the bottom behind the passenger...
93472
There are two tweeters molded into the a-pillars, 5 1/4's hidden in the front doors, and 2 6x9's hidden under the deck lid.

Cool! I thought it might be a stereo component but couldnt really see the knob and it looke "off" somehow. Great idea! Im gonna stay stealth on mine and keep the original AM radio with a hidden stereo in the glovebox, but I am thinking of getting rid of the stereo all together and just having an iphone hook up straight to an amp.
Had a look at the shift knob page...its awesome! Definitively getting something there.

First post for me. 1971 Formula 400. Was looking for the new wheels to put on the car and it led me to this site. Drove it for the first time yesterday. Has been a 7 year project. I am wanting to lower the stance a bit and trying to decide between 17's and 18's. It is set up for touring. Not hardly stock at all. SS all over the place underneath. Will post more pics and info as time allows.

Some awesome looking cars in here, getting me excited. I sold my 98 T/A of 6 years January 10th. Apparently I can't stay away long, within the next week I stumbled across this 71 Firebird with the Formula hood, and a deal was struck. It's a decent car, and I'll probably tag it and drive it for awhile since the 455 sounds pretty decent. I'll work the body in parallel with the other projects I have going on, so this one might take me a couple years, but I'm excited to have a beater project car to drive, as I always do the restorations start to finish and end up with a perfect car I'm afraid to drive. 1st step is to address the stance. I have no idea why it would sit like a 4x4 with the 455 and trans installed. I have some Boss 338's sitting around for another project I'll probably use for awhile to dial in stance, and make it look better as I determine final wheel choice, which would probably change based on if I do a minitub or not. Also want to do the full Trans Am spoiler set, and fenders (came with the car).

And ironically, as much as I've searched for these cars for the last 10 years, and coming up with nothing, the same day I took delivery of the above car, I was looking for parts for it at Desert Valley Auto Parts here in Phoenix, and stumbled across the below car for $3k. It is a 73 Formula 350 with a floor shift (not sure if 3 or 4 speed, but has trans). Rust free car, and complete. So I've partnered up with my dad on this one, as he loves these cars as much as I do.

My first thought was "worst rear spoiler" then I realized that was in the back ground. Second was "I'll bet his insurance company loves the side exit exhaust."
Side note. I didn't even get my 68 off the hauler from (not quite) final paint when my 9-year-old son dropped the ramp in the trunk and chipped the paint. I didn't yell or swear out loud, I didn't back hand him. I walked away, kicked a stone and came back and gave him a hug. I told him its just a car, just a car I've owned for 25 years but only driven 4 summers and worked on for the last 12 but its just a car. I was proud of myself. Pics soon.

Definitely not a cheap date. $508 each through Summit, not cheap, but not Forgeline price either.

Those are the US Mags version. They have them in the cast, which is on that link, or the forged set as well. I'll be getting a cast set temporarily until I minitub/4 link the rear of my car.

They were not cheap but are a billet wheel. I was surprised at how light they were. They do cover my Wilwood brakes, but the look is cleaner. I have gotten quite a few people coming up to me asking me about the wheels.
These were my other choice, but were quite a bit more expensive:

Exactly. I'll likely score cast for now for the cost savings, then upgrade to my dream wheel later or something.

That's my plan, run the cast ones for awhile while I'm improving my driving skills, and get more noticed. Probably my only chance at getting some kind of discount on dream forged wheels down the line, or that might still be a pipe dream, haha.
And the link that cpd posted is the forged version of the US Mags wheel I posted. I'll be running the cast wheels as a temp set since I talked with a rep at the Goodguys Del Mar show, and I can get a set for under $600 directly through them.

If I remember correctly, they were close to $1000 per wheel. I liked the look of a modern factory wheel as it seems to not draw your eye right to the wheel.
I have never been a fan of the US Mag Bandit wheel. Maybe it's the open design, but not quite sure. On the other hand, I think their Trans Am wheel is perfect. I've never seen one on any car though.

I figure I would put a couple of mine up. This is when I picked it up in March bringing it home and when we put it in the garage. It's a 1975 Trans am with a 70-73 front end, 4 spd, posi, 4 wheel disc brakes, and runs great. I got it really cheap and very solid. It was just what I was looking for. I've already started the upgrades and hope to have it in paint before the end of summer. I've already done detroit speed leaf springs and coils on it.

It's crazy, because I'm used to the car having those old American Racing wheels on it! They've been on almost the entire 20 years the car has been in the family! The tires on the factory steelies/hubcaps were flat spotted from the car sitting when we first got it, and the AR's were only around $50ea at the time, so my old man figured he'd just throw on a set of new wheels too.

Here's my '81. It's got the much-hated Pontiac 301. Turbo.
I like it.
Odd, original and different. Almost as cool as an old Pontiac OHC-6. :naughty:
The Last Pontiac V8........
On the gas, gettin' boost (original '81 suspension/shocks).
https://www.pro-touring.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=98441&d=1404160346
This Video shows what 301 cubic inches can do with about 5-6 psi (middle boost light) and then off the brake to get some revs and get a full 8-9 psi (high boost light).
https://youtu.be/hCn-WlX3Rhg
340 lb-ft torque down low at about 2500-3000 rpm..... with a stock 3.08 geared LSD.
Not too shabby, considering the technology available at the time (almost none).
If the heads could have been re-engineered to flow more (this was designed as a lightweight, economy engine for '77), and some supporting electronics that were later developed for the Buick GN.......... oh, well... nevermind. Dreamin'

Not done but I thought I would share. Stance is high in the back. Last springs had the stance nailed but the fenders were rubbing the tires way too much so I put it back up a bit. C5 brakes, ls2 , 4l65, sway bar and arms, coil overs. Interior needs finishing. Subframe connectors need to go in. I like how it handles and does a great smoke show but I won't be auto crossing. The paint has more of a cherry tone in person.

Looks awesome Project92rs. I'm not sure whether to get a fiberglass stock replacement spoiler, or a Mecham style for mine.
Unless you can do your own fiberglass work, get the stock replacement. The MSE one fit so poorly it took the shop 20 hours of work to get it to fit correctly. Long list of issues starting with it being an inch too short to bolt on and still close the deck lid. Then the bolts didn't line up with the deck lid holes and had to be moved when the supports were extended. In comparison, the factory GTA replacement wing from Hawks fit perfectly the first time.

It is an 5th Gen SS hood vent, fits really well, the rain drain is just in front of the accessory drive between the radiator.

Thanks. I had the exact same idea in mind for my '68, so I guess it caught my eye. https://static1.pt-content.com/images/smilies/smile.png Would you mind sharing another, more direct view of it mounted on the hood? Assume you're running the low profile passenger car intake? I'm planning on staying with the truck, but that might not allow the fitment extractor (assuming LS swap).

I am running a Roadster shop chassis and LS3 with stock manifold. The RS chassis lowers the engine about 2 inches. If you have not driven a RS chassis conversion, it is an amazing transformation. More work than the 40 mins it took to bolt it on but worth it.

hey guys, im new to the site, check out these sweet looking sec gen trans am, the black one with the heavy modded front air dam and rear spoiler is from a guy up here in canada, he dose autocross and hill climbs, very sweet looking
What tires are on that thing?
Here's mine, not complete but good enough to drive. This was last weekend at a local First Friday cruise-in, first time I had driven the car since 2008. Didn't have the hood on and didn't have the side windows installed. Was running a flex fan with no clutch but was overheating at idle and low speed. Just finished converting to electric fans but haven't driven it yet so we will see how it does now.
Still a lot of stuff to finish but was nice to finally drive it again although the first drive wasn't enjoyable because I was hyper focused on sounds and making sure there were no major issues.
I'm running a Ridetech Air Ride setup that I bought used years ago and it was aired all the way down in these pics.

My 70 TA clone, was my high school car bought in 1988. Did the TA conversion in 2018 a friend an I did the body work and paint in my garage. 478 cubic inch Pontiac, MR1 block, billet crank, solid roller and E-heads with a 2004R trans.
69 TA clone also built/painted in my garage in 2020. 400 block, 4" forged crank, KRE D-ports, solid roller and Muncie style 4 speed.203611203608

Got it almost a year ago and needed quite a bit to make it a reliable driver, just got it where I could go to car shows/cruises in Sept. Making it autocross worthy on the next round of mods. The 326 Pontiac with a turbo 350 has been reliable but definitely wouldn't work well for an autocross.
