If you had to build a Big Block Chevy engine between a 427 and a 510 for a Pro-Touring car, what would you build and what kinds of parts would you put in it?

IM bored so I will play with you on this subject.

Block__ Donovan Aluminum. to keep weight down Would save 140 bls off the nose
Crank__ Howards 4.00 stroke.
Rods__Howards Ultimate billet Or Dyers 6.385 length
pistons__ CP 4.600 bore

= 509 CID 8"1 compression
(Not sure if rod with fit short deck but hey where playing)

Heads would be
Merlin "Jenkins" 310 rec port heads 2.25 intake 1.88 exhaust
A Paxton Novi Blower

A cam with about 286/296 duration .750+ lift
An intercooler with 110% efficiency

Im thinking 1000+ Hp

realistic no usefull power for street tire No.. but would be fun. :3gears:

Ben's 496 works really well on a factory block. I don't think I could find a better bang for the buck

More of a "streetfighter"-type setup, but I'll play.
-Donovan AL block (4.500 bore)
-3.75 crank (477cid w/short stroke to help cut down some of the low end torque). Lunati, Callies, HTC
-6.535 Oliver billet rods (1.74:1 rod/stroke ratio). With a tall-deck block, you could go to 6.935 (1.85:1 rod/stroke ratio).
-Fully ported AFR 357. Chamber as small as practical.
-Pistons to give ~11:1 compression (1/16-1/16-3.16 ring package)
-Total seal "max seal" rings
-Solid roller ~260/266 @.050 ~.700 lift 108-110LSA (I don't worry about power brakes or an auto trans.)
-DRY SUMP!
-1050 king demon on fully ported (wilson manifold single plane)

816hp @ 7500
665ft-lbs @ 5500
over 400ft-lbs from 2000 to 7500+

Area under the curve. Dynosim came up with a wierd one (as it usually does).

With mufflers, you'd be looking at a nice 750hp/650ft-lbs... give or take
