I have a line on a local 69 Camaro, the guy has no title. I'm in IL and was wondering if anyone has gone through this process in IL?

He will give me a bill of sale and paperwork to apply for title.

I plan on contacting the secretary of state, and local law enforcement to check on status of Vin#

Is there anything else I should try, I'm not sure exactly how to deal with this. But if I can be assured of a title in my name, it looks like I can get a good deal on this.

Usually you need to find the last registered owner and have them sign off. I was told that's the only way, other than a mechanics lein. Or get a title from an out of state title service. I've only had to deal with it twice. Once the car got cut up for scrap, the other I made the owner apply for a lost title. If it wasn't in their name they might tell you who's it was. FRANK
