91 eagle talon.

BR580 TURBO

Aftermarket blowoff valve

Very large intercooler with 2 1/2 ducking!

block is completey done up with Eagle rods, and forged pistons.. has HKS cams ($400 each) Automatic tranny with shift kit and OD heavy duty clutches!

Racing fuel pump!

Turbo timer and APEX fuel computer!

HERE IS THE PROBLEM!!!

Ever since we got the whole thing up and running it feels like it has NO POWER! It couldnt even beat a stock one... It is supposed to make 560hp at the wheels (believe it or not) It has HORRIBLE turbo lag and once it hits 4500rpms it starts cutting out!!

He dont know exactly how the APEX fuel computer works as it would take a ROCKET scientist to figure out the instructions... But we have done lots of adjusting to the fuel and sensor positions and it makes little or no difference on how it runs!! It poors out black smoke when on the throttle hard!

ANy help would be greatly appreciated

THANKS

Are all the basics covered, like:

cam timing (lack of power & sputtering)
fuel pressure (too much? what is regulating it?)
good spark (lack of power & cutting out)

I'd be willing to bet it something relatively simple. Have you tried running w/o the Apex? Cutting out at 4500 and blowing black smoke tells me lots of fuel isn't being burnt- it's either waaay fat or the APEX is adjusted / hooked up wrong.

It runs the same hooked or or disconnected.. It still has the stock fuel pressure regulator!

We checked the valve timing.. Nothin!

We checked the timing... Adjusted but still nothin!

We messed with the apex.. still nothin..

also apears to have good sparks as a few times it did go up to 7000rpms without sputtering but only twice!!

It is for sure dumping fuel!!

I put very little faith in the apex personally, think about an aem with a base map. I've heard it's a real pita to get it to idle with the hks 272 cams.
