Hello all, I've been a lurker for awhile now so I thought I should introduce myself. I'm Kyle, 27, married for almost 6 years with two boys (5 and 3) and #3 on the way. I've been in love with cars in general and GM products especially since about the time I learned how to walk. I got my first subscription to HOT ROD when I was 8 years old.

Needless to say, being young, married with a family there's not a lot left over to play with big toys right now. My wife, being the daughter of an ex-dirt track racer/current fire truck-ambulance mechanic/Harley nut, has promised that some day down the road I'll get my hot rod. As it stands now, priorites dictate that I get my automotive fix by building in 1:25th scale and that's the main reason I'm here. All the rides you guys build give me ideas for projects that I'm working on in scale.
My current projects:

My dream car 69 Pro-Touring Vette. It'll have a BBC with either an EFI'd Hilborn or a manifold similar to the Banks D-Max Type R, T-56 from a '02 Camaro kit, L-88 hood, Hooker headers/sidepipes, big brakes and Torque Thrust II's. The suspension will either be a tubular A-arm front/6-bar rear/coil-over or C6 Vette/coil-over. Paint will be gunmetal w/a black Baldwin Motion stripe and red hashs over a red interior w/ C6 seats.

'06 Z06 Vette. This one is currently black w/a gunmetal "skunk" stripe but may change as every custom C6 paint job I've seen has the same stripe as the one I laid down. I'm building this one pretty much from the box w/ the exception of fixing the shortcomings of the kit. Revell did an excellent job on the Z06 wheels but included the stock C6 tires from their previous version of the tool. So I'll have to widen the wheels to accept the Pilots from a Viper SRT10 kit that are pretty close to same size as the Z06 tires in real life. They also didn't include the sump tank so I've had one cut from aluminum and made the necessary changes.

'69 Camaro. Yeah I know every one has one. Mine'll be Hugger Orange over black/houndstooth, BBC with Throttle body EFI on a high rise intake, T-56 from an '02 Camaro kit, headers w/ 3" exhaust that dumps just before the axle, wheels/tires/brakes from the new California Wheels '69 Vette kit. The suspension is what brought me here to this site again. It'll be a scale version of the Air Ride Strong Arm front/Air Bar rear setup. I've already found the bags in scale just a matter of fabbing up the A-arms and mounts in the rear so if anyone has good pics I could really use them.

It seems that I may have rambled a little so I apologize for the long post. I'll post pics if anyone wants to see them as they progress. I've attached my latest finished build an '04 Rubicon that I built for fun change of pace.

Wow... way cool!

Do you know of a good place to buy resin kits/bodies. I am looking for an '80s Cutlass/442 and I don't think any major ever made one.

Hey Kyle, welcome to Pro Touring. There are a few other modelers here that will appreciate your work. Nice job on the weathering! I had to look twice to make sure it WAS a model!
I did a little modeling back in the day and I own Machined Aluminum Specialties so I am always interested in other peoples work.

I'd say most guys w/ hot rods also built/build models. mine are packed away so my son doesn't get ahold of 'em. I've got a tubbed silverado in there, and a '62 bubble top, don't think that got tubbed, though...
now I've got to go dig 'em out! thanks!

I've made a couple of purchases of your parts before you stopped taking on-line orders, great stuff.

Hello, Kyle, nice job on the model. I have several cars and a F4 U corsair that have been sitting way to long waiting for my attention.

The most comprehensive list of links that I know of is here:http://www.socalcarculture.com/modelcarlinks.html

All the major model companies/aftermarket guys are on this list. The '86/'87 Monte Carlo SS has been re-issued several times in the last couple of years by Revell/Monogram which would be your start once ya found the resin parts for the conversion.

Are you still carrying your full line? There's several of your photo-etch items that I haven't been able to find on the general market that I'd really like to get my hands on.

I am out of a few Photo etched items but most everything is still available. Check out the website and email me from there.

I have done a couple of sets of 1/12th scale rims... They aren't cheap though...

PM me if you are really interested. Cost is based on spoke design and size/width of the rims.
