What is the difference between the Gen 6 and a Gen 7 Accel Sytems? Are the Gen 6 systems programable with a laptop? The one I found has a ECu #74046.
Thanks

Gen 6 is laptop programmable. But you better find someone who can tune it before buying it. Not user-friendly, very slow, and most tuners cannot tune them. At least that's what I've seen out here.
They can do a great job for most applications once tuned correctly, but getting the tune correct is the issue.

I would stay away from the Gen 6. I had it in my T/A and nobody could get it to run right. I swapped over to a Gen 7. It's windows based and much easier to use. I'm no expert but I did get the car to run with it.
But you will still need to get it dyno tuned to be right.

You can get it programmed in NY - Turbo People - Jobe Jr.
He did my Gen VI - but Gen VII is better - he will even tell you that - I think that he does R&D for Accel.

Jobe is the best there is. The problem I had was he is 3.5 hours away from me. We could never get the same times to hook up for the tuning. He is a very busy person.

Just not worth the investment with what else is available right now. Unless your on a tight budget, it's not worth it. The next best option is a Commander 950 from Holley. It has the ability to run WBO2 and is Windows based. You can buy ECU Only all the way up to complete conversion. I'm seeing more used stuff out there everyday. Check ebay
