After more thought, I've decided to build a Camaro G-machine. Because I had a '79 in high school (and I can't afford a 1st gen.) I will soon start looking for a 2nd gen. My question is, are there as many suspension & brake upgrade parts available for these cars as there seems to be for the '67-69's? Like everyone else, I'm looking for bigger discs up front, big discs in rear, tubular a-arms, lower & stiffer springs, beefier anti-sway bars, poly-bushings. Any guidance?

There are quite a few mods you can do to a 2nd gen. Speedtech www.speedtech-performance.com www.hotchkis.net offers a lot of suspension upgrades. You can still do the C4 of C5 disc brake swap on front and rear as well. You should be able to find a first gen camaro around your area. Texas? Hit those small towns and ask around, that is where you find the cars. I spotted 4 first gens on the road coming home yesterday, 2 50's caddilac 2 doors and 1 chevelle. If you are looking for a 2nd gen e-mail me I think I may know where one is you could pick up for as little as nothing.

I am a bit biased.... Go with a Second Gen (I am partial to the 70-73's)
There was not lot's of Pro Touring type parts available for a while... but now there seem to be poping up everywhere.
To see the results, look at some of the guy rides here (Martin71rs, pjtimmer, etc...)
>>bigger discs up front, big discs in rear,
Bear Brakes or a C5 conversion?
>>tubular a-arms
They are starting to show up
>>lower & stiffer springs,
global west 2" dropped springs
>>beefier anti-sway bars,
Hotchkis anti-sway bars
>>poly-bushings.
Yup... but look at solid bushings for the subframe.
The second Gen's are still quite cheap to get into. THere is a 71 project for sale here (Looks nice) 71 Project for Sale (http://66.70.234.198/forum/showthread.php?t=2250)
Cheers
