Well thanks to the Pigeon Forge car show I sold my car.

Now I don't know what to buy. Ilike the old cars but at the same time I want something new. So I found some Berger Camaro's on EBAY. What does any one know about these car. any info would be nice.

Thanks

That's good if that's what you wanted to do. Just get something you can drive! :drive1:

Hey Brent,
we met at the event during the RTTH, I was in the Lexus.

I really liked your car man, it's kinda sad to hear that you sold it, that thing was beautiful.

Berger Camaro's were much like the Yenko in that Berger was a dealer that would put the 427 engine into a Camaro and then sell it to you.
Baldwin-Motion was similar as well.
I'm just not sure whether Berger ordered COPO cars and did that, or if they got like an SS car and then did an engine swap themselves.

I think Berger was just the least known dealer out there doing that but the cars are worth PLENTY today if they are legit.
Berger was from somewhere out in the mid-west here, like Missouri or Ohio or something. I think they are actually still around doing normal car sales.

B.A. I really wantto thank you for you help. I hope the video turned out good. Sorry about filming you , I wasn't sure how to operate the camera. Maybe we will meet again.

Not all Bergers came with 427s, or many even? I think you're thinking of the ZL1s that GM offered in '02 which came with 427s but were for track use only. I'm pretty sure most of the Berger cars had LS6s and were SS cars, but I might be wrong. For info on the Berger cars, I'd spend some time reading over at ls1tech.com

Berger Chevrolet is in Grand Rapids, Michigan and they do dealer added options much like the Baldwin & Motion Chevrolet cars. I once bought a well...a ah...ahem...Cavalier from Berger Chevrolet. But I got a great price. Boy those were dark days back then. :hand:

If you are talking about 98-02 model Berger Camaros, those were sold thru Berger Chevrolet, but modified by a shop called GMMG in Georgia. They are basically appearance-modified cars, with a few bolt-ons. They seem to have nice collectibility value though, surprisingly for a newer vehicle.

Good point about the later year Berger cars being fixed up.

I was thinking of the 1969 era stuff! Dammit I'm old!

If Brent wants a 69, I hope he did real good on the chevelle! It takes guys with deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep pockets to get a real 69 Berger.
Like Tony said, even the late model Berger cars are bringing the money. Probably the first Chevrolet in fourty years that has actually appreciated in the first ten years of its life.

All I can say is I got my money back! But now that I am looking , you can;t buy anything of good quality for what I got for mine.

I sold mine because I had lost interest in it. The painter took nearly 2 yrs,(when he said he would have it back in 6 months. None of the gaps looked good. The paint was splotchy. Patch panels were showing up. Emblems were crooked. The list goes on....

So, what is there out there to buy for the low 30's. that you don't have to sink 5 or 6 grand more in them, I have come to realize that to buy or build a nice car it takes a good 40,000 to do it.

Oh and by the way MR.MONEY BAGS (Bill howell) can I borrow about 10,000?

LOL, you need to talk to uncle Bob or maybe even uncle Milton.

You are right though, good cars start at 35 or 40 nowdays, which is crazy, unless you are selling.

It was a sad day when I decided it would be "fun" to actually keep track of exactly how much time and money went into building a car. Now I am MISERABLY aware that a basic ground up project is 2000-2500 hours plus parts. On my truly personal projects...It still doesn't matter because it is recreation. On company projects...it can be a struggle to explain to a customer or a potential buyer why your 67 Camaro with the aluminum headed 383, tremec 5 speed, Baer disc brakes, full air suspension, leather Cerullo seats and completely unmolested and unrusted virgin California GM sheetmetal is worth $60k.
Thankfully most of us still consider the time we spend on our hotrods as social relaxation [as it should be]. We don't irritate ourselves with keeping track of those hours...we create for the joy of creation. That is why most of the nicest hotrods [with obvious, notable exceptions] come from private builders.
