still dont have a good project name for the car lol o well at least i got some progress done on the car.
i have finally found out what color i will paint the car and the color is Dark Cloisonne its a dark blue which is good i didnt want a blue like my dad has on his 69 chevelle.i got the engine wiring back from lt1wiring and iam "trying" to install it i still have several sensors to buy for the motor still befor i can start it. i think i figured out what iam going to do about the cooling. after talking to Scott Mueller. i have bought both the expansion tank and power steering tank from Canton racing products.i still have body work to do on the car nothing big at all just some final finishing glaze to get it nice and straight.for the interior iam working on the wiring the guy that had the car befor me liked to splice into alot of wires for somereason but all the wiring is pretty much done. i have painted the dash orion silver and just set the dash in there to see how it looked, iam going to try and make a center concel out of fiberglass witch will hold one of painless wiring troggle switch boreds and my gagues,i will also be ordering a ididit steering colum once i pay my credit card off:scared: .i plan on ordering the new seats wed from Hunsaker.i also got all the fule lines ran and the tank installed and finally finished the rear coilovers. iam trying to have this thing done for the nov goodguys show here in pleasentan but u know how that gose.also installed the new poly body mount bushing

Looking good! Nice color.

2 things, that roll bar looks weird, not sure if you plan on hitting any tracks, but it might not be legal. The fuel reg mounted on the firewall is def. not NHRA legal.

Good luck, its coming together great!

09-28-2007, 01:02 PM
i got the car fired up ill post sound clips later today. i have the door panles in the car just need to get the headliner installed and the back seat redone and make seat brakets. still need to get a drive shaft made and run the front brake lines other than that it needs to be painted witch will not happen till summer and when i get a fulltime job. going to school and playing football really limits my time to work on the car. but it will be drivable in nov so i can make the last goodguys show.

I have an almost identical color on my camaro... u will LOVE the way ur car looks in that paint when u are done.

By the way what do you have done on your LT1.
Mines stock as of now... but im looking at

1.6 roller rockers
comp cams XE 224/230
custom CAI
Long tube headers
2.5 dual exhaust
new piston rings
new bearings

this is my first engine build so i wondering if u had any recommendations, id like to make 330 RWHP but its gonna be a DD so nothing too crazy
what brand of roller rockers did u use?

lt1chevelle

i have the loyd elliot stage 2 heads and a gm847 cam with 37lb racetronix injectors with a 52mm holly tb hooker headers and all msd ignition it should make 420rwhp. if you want 330 i would reccomened going with the stage 1 set up from loyed elliot its like 1200 and it includes Head/cam package will pull from 2,000 to 6,200 RPM should make *370 – 390 RWHP with 30 lb. injectors, 52 MM T.B., 1 ¾ LT’s no cats, good tuning, etc. This will have an idle similar to the HotCam, CC 305, etc. but will make more HP & TQ than these cams with the same RPM range. The LT1 LE1 heads consist of: Stock Valves with Crane 10308-1 dbl valve spring, retainer and lock kit
195 CC Intake Por Milling, Cleaning, Assembly
Flow About 260/180
Ready to bolt on
LE1 Head/Cam Package - $1,200 plus shipping. $850 for Heads only.

iam running crane cams gold series roller rrockers. another thing you are going to have to do is send you comp to pcmforless so they can tune it for you once you add a cam and other mods. let me know if you have any more questions

yeah ive check out teh loyd elliot web site before but unfortunatly its a bit out of my price range for oh..i dunno the next year or so haha

i have a budget of about 700 for this engine,

so i plan on custom fabbing the intake ( no biggy)
i have a freind who does computer tuning so im getting that done for free
i already have the long tubes and exhaust.
I just need help choosing a cam for DD and what roller rockers to go with. what cam would you choose for this?

I have ported/polished factory castings (oversized valves, etc.), a Comp Cams 224/236-112LSA cam, AS&M 54mm TB, JetHot LTs, no cats, and running through a Magnaflow 3" cat-back. I turned 360rwhp on my last tune (through a auto with 2800 vigilante stall). I didn't quite hit my goal of 375rwhp......

Good luck with your project! Your chevelle should look great in your choice of blue..... maybe it won't be too long before we see it!

its always those little things that just continue to add up and hold up your project. I live way down south in orange county, about 6 hours away. Livermore is actually right next to where i bought my car. from what i noticed when i went there, you guys have a **** load of classic cars, im jealous haha

Nice work. Be carefull of your MO tune before you run it hard. Mine was waaaay lean last year from the same tuner.

Air in the cooling system? LT1's are a pita to get it all out. the factory heater lines have bleeders to help and its still a PITA!
Good luck

thanks guys things have been really slow i have not had a job in over a year and its hard to get things going with out any $$ but on the brite side i did have a interview to join the pipe fitting and welding union so cross your finger. as for the car my dad got on me to get it done and paint it so i can drive it and enjoy it so he is spotting me the cash to get things going. as of now i am blocking the car and filling in some low spots. the paint color has changed i really like the look of the satin black so thats what i am going with now, also got my cowl in so i am welding that on the hood this weekend so i should have some pics this weekend. i am trying to have some color on it by the end of next month. plan is to do the autox at the goodguys show in may.

Hi,

nice car!

What shifter are you using for your 4l60e? Are you satisfied with it?

I'm thinking about doing the flat black paint on my velle too. Can't wait to see what u'rs will look like :)

the trans is a th400, i had a 700r4 in there but it was nothing but problems. i ran the same shifter i am now on the 700r4 i just had to buy a new plate for the side of the shifter so it had a slot for 4th gear. i am hoping to have some pics soon.

I love the blue color man. Quick question: What size/width are the wheels and tires are on that thing? I'm trying to decide weather or not to order the intro Retros or the intro Rallys. How big is the lip on the wheels (or backspacing if you have that)?

lt1chevelle

the fronts are 17*7 and the backs are 17*8 as of BS gose i dont remeber if u PM on of the intro guys on the site he could tell u cause its just stock bs for a 65 chevelle.

so i have a little problem an need some advise. the color blue i planed on painting my car(CAR IS JAMBED IN THE BLUE ALREADY) can no longer be sprayed in ca any more becuase they went to waterborn paint an dupont did not carry that paint color over to there waterborn paint so, what it i painted the car a bright silver and left the firewall blue? i kno if i take the motor out to paint it the car will never go back together, haha. so let me know what you guys think an if there is any silvers u like. i was looking at HOK and kustom shops silvers both a very bright

edit: the color can be bought an sprayed in CA just not in the county i live in

its been awhile since i updated this!! car has not seen that much love over the year but its a new year and time for a change! i recently just started a new career job (tennyson electric) so most of my time has been spent wrking away from home so therefore leaves little time to wrk on the car. i recently found out that the driver side quarter has been hit and was not replaced right. so the car will need a new drivers side quarter skin but for now its going to be primed flat black. i have decided to finish the rest of the car and paint it once everything is done! i can tell u one thing i have learned during this build, take your time and dont try to rush having the car painted. i painted the jams about 3-4 years ago and over the years of working on the car they have been chipped and need to be redone! i am hoping to have more updates this year than last year so stay tuned!!!
