Hey fellow ACVW enthusiast! I used to work for RLR in so cal, up till a year ago when I moved back to Texas. Sure do miss going to Sac for the Bug-Ins!

Used to have a '68 bug myself. That thing was so much fun! I used to live underneath that thing! Had 2100cc w/ 48IDA's until I put a rod through the top of the case racing a camaro on the freeway here in SoCal. You should of seen the look on the camaro drivers face when we were running side by side even though he was doing his best to pull away from me he couldn't until the engine let go!:bananna2:

Yeah. I still crew on the FWD car he drives (and Ron Townsend's car too) for Bothwell Motorsports.
He's finishing the motor in my G/D comp elim dragster too.

just got the motor back together and drove the car around for a few min tonight after fixing it from that wheelie pass (cracked a cyl) put in some new rod bearings, honed the cyl, new rings, lapped valves, new springs and some ti retainers this time. new 4 puck. hopefully i can do good at vegas this weekend! :hammer:

aftermarket alum case, 3.5qt deep sump 78x94, hbeam rods arp2000 bolts, wiseco pistons, kre turbo cam, pauter 1.4:1 roller rockers, 044 44x37.5mm valves by DRD. to4b 58mm turbo by mattdavisracing.com 48 dell sidedraft carb modified by me. turbosmart eboost ebc and wastegate.

Sweet, is it pretty streetable,
I had the usual 1835, major ported heads, 110 cam dual 40 IDF's was pretty quick, very high compression,

yes its very streetable, only 8:1 compression runs fine on pump doesnt make much heat off boost. and no its never been a cover car! ha i wish.

Nah, that was Jeff Hart's car, with Roger Crawford's (Heads-Up Performance) deuce, about 5 years ago...

He drags a good bit over here on the east coast. He runs a dragster right now with VW power. He also built a fiberglas body VW several years ago that was on the cover of the VW mag mentioned above. He lives here, and a friend of mine.

Yeah, I knew him. Sort of. He ordered some parts from me when I worked at RLR. The guys he sold his door-car to in Germany was also a customer of ours.
