I am in the process of putting my subframe back together with hotchkis springs and speedtech upper and lower control arms and I am wondering if I should change my steering gear. I currently have a remanufactured 88 I-ROC gear from the local parts house and have considered steping up to the DSE or Flamming River box. Should I leave what I have or make the high dollar purchase on a 600 series box? Is there that much difference between the two. The other thing is that being that mine is a reman unit I am not sure that the gear is truely for an I-ROC. I installed the gear I have now and disassembled everything before I could drive it so I have no idea what it is like driving with it. Removing and replacing the gear after installing the headers and everything in the car would be a terror so I need to make a decision now. Thanks for any help.

Tumper, if you're already putting everything in it new and it is apart. I would recomennd calling Tyler over at ATS. He sells the new 600 series box that is blueprint by Lee Manufacturing, the best in the business. Tyler's phone# is (702)245-6305 I'm finishing up my 68 with new suspension and steering ( Lee 12.7:1 600 series box) I should be completed this week. I'll let you know just how good it is!! Like they say, " If you're gooing to build it , build it right! And be Done with it!! Jeff

I agree with Jeff. The Lee Engineering boxes from Tyler at ATS are really impressive.

ATS' gear was the other that I was looking at possibly getting. Do let me know what you think of the gear after it is installed and driveable. Mine won't be to that point until sometime next spring. Know anybody that needs an I-ROC steering gear?
