View Full Version : QA1's w/ Global West Springs ???'s

I have heard lately that the stock QA1 springs included in most of the kits specifically the GMP14 kit is better suited as a drag race spring and not a performance street spring due to the low spring rate of 250-350. I have heard the Global West spring is a better all around spring and is rated at 500.

Anyone have any personal experience with the GW spring with the QA1's? The QA1's will be going on my primarilly street driven 71' Nova and I am really more concerned w/ ride quality than handling. With that being said should I just stick w/ the stock QA1 spring? Is ride quality adversely affected at all w/ the GW's versus the QA1 springs?

Any help or insight on this is greatly appreciated

We can set you up with variable rate Hal springs for QA1s which are better then the standard GMP14 springs which are fixed rate

Thanks for the response Frank. What are the main advantages of the swap from the fixed rate springs to the variable rate? Also which springs do you guys typically use when running the QA1 kits on first gens?

Depends on motor set up.
