Anybody notice that B&M has aquired McLeod Ind or is this some type of partnership? I visited the McLeod website today and noticed it has been totally revamped. I sure hope this 'merger" doesn't hurt the quality that McLeod is known for. I guess this is something that we all have seen happening in this industry in recent years, sometimes it's good... sometimes it bad.

Mcleod seemed to sell good parts made by someone else. I hope that won't change. What will probably suffer is customer service. When I was buying the clutch for my t56 the advice and experience of Mcleod was more than helpful.

Well if you have any concerns just take a look at B&M's track record. They have been around forever and have survived in a world of trends and buy-outs. I think this will be a good merger. If McLeod had to sell out, B&M is the kind of company I would like to see snatch them up.

The scoop from an inside source is that B&M bought out Red, but Red & George will still run everything. Word I got was that B&M is just providing some re$ource$ to help update the machinery. Their old equipment was left over from WWII I think!
Customer service shouldn't change, but if you ever have any issues, talk to George. He'll take care of you.
BTW EFI69Cam, the trannies they sell there are the ONLY product's they don't make. They do the starters there, and the clutches are entirely an in-house production (except the compounds on the clutch discs are outsourced). Believe me, I was in there on a weekly basis, they definetly know what they are doing!

Cadpro,
Glad to hear news like that. Red with updated equipment and B&M resources will surely bring along great new products.
I recently purchased a complete clutch assm. w/ bellhousing from McLeod and found their customer service to be very, very good (even though their phone line was often busy). Red was very helpful in getting me the part numbers and clutch recommendation for my 540 ci / D&D 6 speed setup. I look forward to seeing how they grow

Yeah, George pretty much runs the show. He's busier than a one-armed paper hanger!

True story.. and it's all for the best. McLeod now has the capital it needs to improve it's operations. I was there the other day and the shop looks 1000% better. better organized and their customer service will be MUCH better.
And yes.. George is the MAN! :)

Those are the machines I learned on...they last forever! All painted gray with "Property of War Dept" on them. Cool stuff.
