It's like looking at the current build and status of my own car,.......uhhh, execpt that LS7 and T56 thing. ;) But yeah, the other stuff is right where I'm at as well.

Lookin' very good right now, great parts! Can't wait to see the wheel and paint choices!

Thanks everybody for all the comments and encouragement. Means a lot.

Just wondering, Who's your source for replacement panels? the fit looks great. Thanks,

The quarter panels are OER's from Classic Ind. and fit really well. The tail panel is goodmark.
It took a fair amount of work to make everything fit together well and getting the gaps right. But I enjoy that part for some dumb reason.

The outer wheelhouses are from Rick's First Gen. These are the better ones they sell, made in the US I believe and are real nice. Well worth the extra money.

The wheels are Fikse Profil 5 and the paint was going to be black right up until I saw the beautiful 69 of Streetking?? That is now my desktop and I'm leaning towards a dark metallic grey with black or silver Z28 stripes. Everybody throw in your 2 cents. Thanks

BA.
08-31-2006, 08:38 PM
Fikse. :) Nice!

regarding paint, I think that dark grey you mention is better than black. The car is my desktop at the moment too. :)

As much as I like black on a lot of cars, I feel that black on the 69 makes it lose some of it's attractive lines. they just kind of disappear in black. (for me)

I like the dark grey with silver stripes as well you may even want to look at like a candy charcoal... Hot hues has it I was going to do that on my project until I decided to get a convertible then I wanted to do a tan top to be different.. Wheels are cool I think we are all a little envious of the LS7....:headbang:

I've been so busy trying to keep the project moving that I haven't put much thought into what to do once it's complete. LOL I have been thinking I would like to take it to the Year One show, and I would love to go Mr.Howells Run through the Hills(?). What shows have you been thinking about? Yes, Peterson did add the bungs. The Katech valve covers I'm using have a hole for a fitting on the inside vertical edge.I'm running an an-6 line from both to the breather.

I'm not sure about the light? I think if you put a bezel around it, it will just draw too much attention. If you leave it the way it ism, it almost looks unfinished? I'm not sure what to tell you on that one. I think the car looks great either way and blows my out of the water so, what do I know. Good luck with the car and keep us up to date.

Great idea. It looks fine. I have one on my Mustang Saleen.

It only looks like it sticks out because the the car is in primer. I would not add bezel. Good move = leave as is.

Thanks Bowtie, I don't think the engine could sit much lower or farther back. The following picture is with the stock LS7 pan and it clears the frame by about 1/4" if I remember right. I have one of ATS's oil pans on order. Be curious myself to see how much clearance there is with that. I think there was about 1" clearance between the back of the heads and the firewall.Picture is not too good. Sorry

Everything looks great, I especially like the torquer cam you chose, the best off the shelf cam for this engine IMO.

He doesn't have the steering linkage in there currently. The stock LS7 pan will not fit with the steering linkage, and the LS7 is dry sump, so it holds way more than 4.5 qts.

We have not even released our LS7 dry sump pan yet, you must have one of our LS1 oil pans. The LS1 pan is not going to work with a dry sump LS7.

Hi Wayne, we used Sikkens Autocryl Rally Black. There are two different activators, the one we used on the bottom, firewall, subframe, core support, etc. dries to a satin finish. We used the other activator for the interior and got a nice semigloss finish. My painter says this stuff is really tough.

I just used a clip on each end. The back of the light at each end was basically flush with the inside of the spoiler. Real simple.

That color is a gotta have. I'd be willing to pay a small fee for that recipie. Well done. PM me; I'm serious.

I have to get the formula from my painter and will let you know. I need to get some pics outside in the sunlight and post them. Looks real good in the sunlight.

hey im wondering....does the blue chevy sign in the tailpanel come in black?

Thats exactly what I've been wondering. Black would look great.I don't much care for the blue. I've also been thinking about making a billet bowtie the same size. What do you think?

Looks awesome! That color is SO close to the color that I am using (but mine is not a custom mix) I had to do a side-by-side compare:

I didn't see that someone else already asked about the chassis paint. Sorry! :hand:

Hi Wayne, we used Sikkens Autocryl Rally Black. There are two different activators, the one we used on the bottom, firewall, subframe, core support, etc. dries to a satin finish. We used the other activator for the interior and got a nice semigloss finish. My painter says this stuff is really tough.

i didnt want to come right out with it because i think you car is absolutely perfect haha. i think a black bowite or maybe some aluminum one right off the waterjet would look good. im thinking of doing almsot the same color but a ltitle lighter gray. i was going to black out the tailpanel and get some gunmetal rims like bad penny. amazing job though. cant wait to see it totally done

Actually we kind of home brewed the color, but we did it on a computerized scale setup so we can duplicate it anytime. I'll post the exact ingredients if you'd like to duplicate. We used Sikkens paint by the way. God I was scared to death how it would look!! Have got a lot of positive feedback.Whew

Wow, that is stunning. What a great color. I would be interested to know your "recipe" for that color, more just to see what the mixture is made of. I just chose my dark gray color about 3 weeks ago so I can't copy you now!

Another update. Been busting our a$$ around here lately. Hung all the front sheetmetal, installed sound system, electric locks, DSE dash 2 weeks ago and had the interior stitched up and installed last week. I finished up the odds and ends, power steering lines, pump and cooler, alternator ( used a vette front drive that Tyler sent me until I can get a Sidewinder), hoses, wiring the fan controller, driveshaft, seat belts, etc. from last sat. thru tues. and fired her up tues. at 4:00. Thanks to John at Speartech she fired right up and runs damn good. Had a couple minor leaks to fix tues night, polished the stainless window trim at the last minute, finished and drove it to a show downtown wed night.
About 1400 cars showed up and we had a crowd around the Camaro all night. I will post some video in a day or two if I can figure out how. She sounds great!!

They're from Arizen Racing Sports, one of the site sponsors. They seem to be real nice quality, sit nice, not too high. I ordered them with the deep bolsters, wide seat option, and a slot for a sub belt. I'm happy with them.

Thanks Rantheman. You're right, the oil filter is too low. I had to make a couple of changes in the filter area so I can move the filter up. Tearing it off at speed would really, really suck. lol I'd love to keep the car at this height but I'm going to have to raise it 1/2" to 3/4" to be able to drive it.

Thanks Wayne. Right now all I have is a couple of mufflers hanging on there with a 3 1/2" to 3" reducer. They hang way too low. I'm doing a Magnaflow 3" stainless system with X-pipe. Not gonna happen til next week though. Then I can:6gears:
