Going to Vegas this weekend.

First time ever! woohoo! Any recommendations on places to eat...cheap buffets/steaks? We have tickets for each night and dinner plans for one night, but want to try some good stuff (reasonably priced) during the other times. We will be staying at Harras.

And before you say it, my wife is going with me so the Bunnie Ranch is....IN. Mkay...not really.:poke:

Hmmm where to start...

The Rio buffet is awsome
Rum Jungle in Mandalay is a good spot for food and def drinks
check out The Palms for some, how should I say it scenery at the Ghost Bar or Rain.

for adult fun Olympic Gardens is a must, and Crazy Horse is good for the 4am till sunrise party

I guess I should qualify my request. I am not much of a 'social' person. I prefer to be by myself and talk to people on the internet (i am such a geek) to bumping into people head-to-toe.

I dont mind going out, but the club thing really isnt me :(

Don't worry about that. You'll be about 5 hours away from there since the Bunny Ranch is just outside Carson City, near Reno.

For breakfast, I like the buffet at the Sahara. Everything else, I kinda got bored down there....

chicken ranch is in pahrump - 45 minute drive. chicken ranch - where they "raise" (insert another word for roosters here). i havent been there but my brother dug a swimming pool there in the shape of.... um.....

Its also a good time to see a cirque de solei show.

you can also rent a Viper or Ferrari and blast to the Red Rockies or to the Hoover Dam...

I rented a golf cart thing on the strip last time. It was painted like a lady bug and did 40 mph but got more looks and cheers by the girlies then the exotics.. pretty funny!

luxur has a good breakfast buffet also...

You could also check out Emrils at the MGM, but I wasn't impreseed with the food for the price....

If you're there for just plain entertainment and don't gamble much, see the Tussaud's Wax Museum and whatever is being displayed at the Venetian (the Titanic exhibition was there in Vegas the last time I was).

Go out to Las Vegas Motor Speedway and tour the Shelby plant. Do the Richard Petty Driving Experience if you have the bucks.

Next to the Hilton, there's an autocross-type course for cars and a climbing course for trucks. You rent them and get to drive the courses. Haven't done it but was told it was pretty fun.

Before you do anything tourist, check the local freebee magazines for the discount coupons. I know there is one for the driving and for the Wax Museum (pretty cool and new stuff always being added).

The Imperial Palace Auto Display is also okay but only a few cars are really special. Most are for sale but the prices are pretty out there. There's a coupon in the Las Vegas News (or something like that) for free admittance. Not a must-see but do it if you have the time.

Haven't seen it but also heard that the Liberace Museum is also interesting. They have all the costumes, pianos, and I think a car he had customized. There's a coupon . . .

The Rio Buffet is great but get there early or you'll wait forever. If you want a good steak, try Morton's . . . the Steakhouse and you won't be disappointed. Bring the $$$ as you pay for what you're getting. Lawry's Steakhouse is also good, so I'm told. Haven't been there but worth a try.

Definitely eat at places that you wouldn't normally eat at home. We've got Outback, etc. out here in CA in most any city so while you get a good steak, it's not that special. In Las Vegas, enjoy the variables.

If you golf, definitely bring or rent clubs as the courses are pretty reasonable and plentiful.

The tram also takes you most everywhere on the Strip. All of the casino/hotels offer free parking. If you don't smoke, wear a mask or move from Point A to Point B (your destination) fast. Here in CA, there's no-smoking allowed in all restaurants and most other establishments. Nevada doesn't play by these same rules . . .

There's lots of shows that are pretty cool. The Blue Man Show is good and check to see if there's any entertainers that will be doing their shstick while you're visiting. Jay Leno often does some shows there.

And DON'T take any of the cards offered to you on the Strip or neighboring streets. These folks can't touch you or speak to you, but will try to get you to take the nudie-bar, call-out girl/guy services, general icky stuff that ZBugger probably would enjoy (just kidding, Allen - honest!!!), propaganda by snapping their fingers, tapping on the cards, etc. They usually don't go for the girls but will definitely try to get your attention. Put them on the Ignore Button.

Great call on Mortons! We have one in Columbus and have been there several times (i was engaged there). They have GREAT steaks. We definately plan to try places that we dont have here in town. I have yet to visit Vegas and really want to try as much as possible.

I hope to visit the Shelby museum while I am there. I didnt even know it was in Vegas until last week.

It sounds like Vegas can be just like any other tourist trap...'Wanna buy a timeshare?' LOL. Kind of ironic cause thats how we got into the Harras. We got a free timeshare from my wife's parents.

Do not waste your time on Zumaniti (sp) it was stupid even with the T & A. The other Cirque shows are great though. Red Rocks is cool if your into the outdoor thing. I rock climbed there often when I lived in Vegas. Stop by and see the guys at ATS. Thier shop is just off the strip.

The best steak I've every had was in Vegas. It was at the Ruth Chris' OFF the strip (east by a couple of blocks). Between the wife and I, it cost $100. It was the best ever; way better than waisting $100 on the tables. IT was late on a Sunday night, and there was no one there.

There's this gunshop/range called the "Gun Store" on 2900 East Tropicana where you can shoot a full-auto subgun. You can get a coupon at most hotels, $25 for fifty rounds. I've tried the HK MP5 and a M16, both in 9mm. Good clean fun! :cool:

We have never been to a Ruth Chris'! Might have to check that place out!

This really wouldnt matter to me. It was the one show she really wanted to see, and if it sucked, I would feel bad.
