I am leaving for New York by the end of September.
Any places I need to go? (pro-touring related)

And what shops can I visit near down town New York? (parts and car stuff)

Not car related, but if you want some good food...

My aunt owns a resturaunt/deli in Manhattan (across from the Ghost Buster's Firehouse) called Columbine (she built it before the whole school shooting thing..it is a type of flower). They make great food there and celebrities show up a lot.

Gets great reviews but is always busy...

My tip...

Don't agree to be the driver of a 15 passenger van, full of hung over college kids, driving through New York City... and further be certain not to allow the van to trespass into the crosswalk while waiting at a stoplight unless you want passers-by to slap the hood of the van and yell obscenities at you... and further still don't try to parallel park said van on the curb unless you're just that darned good (I managed to do it).

Can you tell how my last visit to NYC went? ;)

I will be a real tourist and be staying in Hotel Pennsylvania in the Garment District at Seventh Avenue 33nd street. Just a few yards away form the Empire State buidling. Hope this helps any?

I am guessing I won't be lucky in finding some car parts store nearby... how about Autobarn or something like that?

Car parts stores in Manhattan, doubtful. For a restaurant, hit Jeckyll & Hyde's. There's one at 56th & 6th, there's also one in the village too. The Slaughtered Lamb (restaurant) is also down in the village. Times Square is also a good tourist spot. Madame Toussaud's wax museum on 42nd between 8th & 7th.
