There seems to be a lot of ambiguity about the definition of pro-touring. Would you say my 63 Chevy II does, or does not, qualify as pro touring. Here is how it is set up: The drive train is a 350 ci Edlebrock crate motor (460 hp), Tremec TKO 5 speed over drive transmission, and 4:56 gears. The front suspension has the CPP mini sub frame kit which includes; a front sub frame connector, tubular upper and lower A arms (eliminating the struts and strut supports), cam & cast kits, and 1.5" lower springs. Also up front is a 1" sway bar with polyurethane bushings and SSBC disc brakes. The rear suspension is mono leaf, 3/4" sway bar with polyurethane bushings drum brakes and traction bars. Wheels and tires are 225/30s on 17" American Racing Torque Thrust IIs. Creature comfort includes Vintage A/C and high back bucket seats. Additional sub frame connectors stiffen everything up nicely. Let me know if you think this set up would qualify as pro touring or does it fall short of the mark? reply here or via email at

Does it accellerate, turn, and stop better than stock? It sounds like the answer would be 'yes' to the speed and turn, not so sure of the stopping.
Does it play nice? Is it something that you'd be willing to drive to work? To a neighboring state? Cross-country?
What about the track - do you think you'd be able to take it to the drag/twisty track and have fun with it?
Most importantly - do YOU think it fits the bill?

Don't get caught up in definitions, that's not what this site is about. You build your car for what YOU want, not some community. But if you must have an answer, see this thread for more information; https://www.pro-touring.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11764

I second this post and Derek's post. Don't get caught up in definitions, it will just cause problems. The only thing I read that would hinder the preformance was no rear disks, but that in no way disqualifies the car for anything. We just promote saftey here and if you are comfortable with the stopping, enjoy the car. We just would hate to see you suffer brake fade after some "spirited" driving thru some twistys.
Welcome to Protouring, post up some pictures, and join in the fun!

I would have to agree.... if it accelerates, brakes, and turns, repeatedly and enjoyably, and you're happy with it...... it is. I'd like to pics as well.
