Hello Everyone !
Just purchased a 68 Camaro SS on a whim after driving past in on a Saturday night. This lead me to many Google searches and eventually arriving here. I'd like to say thanks to many pointers I've gotten in the forums already. I've got an aluminum radiator on order and in order to save a few bucks, I think I'll use a Pepsi bottle for an overflow can until I can scrape together some more cash ! :)

I was wondering everyone's thoughts on the market for 1st gen Camaros ? I picked this one up pretty cheap with the thought that it will appreciate in value after the 2009 Camaro's are introuduced. My thought was that since the '09 will be retro styled and based off the first gen, it will increase the market for REAL first gen Camaros. And at that same time, more baby-boomers will be retiring and possibly want to pick up the 67-69 models as a hobby, or to re-live some of their old days.

What are your thoughts ?

Thanks for the great forum, and here's a pic of my new baby..... of course I don't think I'll be able to let it go even if the market does get RED hot :-)

Welcome aboard and congrats on the 'splurge'!:bananna2: Sure is a GOOD LOOKIN car!

The market right now is already red hot for these cars (particularly the 69's) I dont think there is a more demanded car out there (well, maybe the Cuda or Challenger). I am not a first gen owner, but I really cannot see the market getting any more fired up than it already is. You can probably only hope it stays lit. Shoot. Lowering it a few inches alone will probably increase the value, as well as the WOW-effect.

Now it seems the REAL market for these cars are with pro-touring. Many people want the old car with the comfort of new. From what I have seen, if you get a good starter, which is what you have, and put a little money into it (while doing the work yourself), you have more potential of making some dough.

I am sure a first gen owner will jump in here and correct me if I am wrong. Those statements were just based on observation.
