Does the truck pan not fit? sump too deep? front hit the cross member?

I just put a gen3 motor in my 68 Camaro over the weekend and a truck pan sump will be too deep. I used a modified f-body pan and the sump is basically even with the cross member. At a guess the truck pan sump will clear the cross member but will hang 3 or 4 inches below.

I modified a stock pan. The motor shop did not recommend an aftermarket pan. They felt it was part of the structure. I took off about 2" from the front of the pan. Becareful about warping the pan.

What frame stands did you use? I was thinking that 6 cyl stands would bring the engine back and down over where the BB stands would set it, and maybe even further back than the SB stands.

I used the ATS mounting plates. The frame stands on my car were different than most other people. ATS motor mounts ATS sells with there plates would not work. Mine are tall and narrow vs short and wide.

Autokraft makes a really nice pan that clears the crossmember.
