View Full Version : rusty bolts suuuck

hi guys i wasjust wondering what would be the best way to remove rusty bolts.. im having a hard time and they are pissing me off. ive soaked them in wd40 and nothing happens. if you guys have any other suggestions please let me know. im trying to get my body off the frame and the bolts is stuck.

Heat is your friend. Got an oxy-acetylene torch? Heat the bolts and they'll loosen up. If you don't have an OA torch, use a MAP gas or propane torch like what you would use for sweating copper tube.

I never found WD40 any good for rusty bolts. PB Blaster seems to wrok better. Heat is step two, no doubt. My MAPP gas setup (home depot) woorks great.

thanks guys maybe ill have my body off the frame soon (hopefull) i think ill get frame ready with my dad and i and then have body blasted and bod work done.

PB Blaster... let it soak for a while. Works silly well.

if the blaster doesnt work, get some wax and heat the bolt till its cherry red. wait till it just starts to loose its redish colorand apply some wax to the bolt. the wax will work its self down the threads. let it cool and it should come right out.

thanks for the link man! my body mount bolts are off and i was wondering what else do i need to do, to get the body off the frame? what else do i need to take off/ remove??
