I am a HUGE fan of Jesse. I would love to have him as a mentor. I think he may have been a little caught up in the moment when he said that. He has worked for everything he has, and now that he is sucessful, still works hard. And, he is teaching his children to work to. Personally I can't stand the way the guy talks. He sounds like "whiney little weasel" mixed with "surfer boy".

Personally I like the guy. I don't pay attention to his personal issues or what he campaigns for. Everyone has their own agendas, famous or not. To me his work is remarkable. Sure there are others out there that are not in the spotlight and are better, but once again, its what you want to make of yourself. He does give credit where credit is do I think. He really looks up to those old timers and tries to gain as much as he can from them when he works with them. At least it seems that way on his shows. I would give my n***s to work with him and some of the other pioneers (Ron Covell, Craig Naff) just to gain some knowledge and insight.
Some disagree with the way he makes his money but come on, if someone told any of us that we could makes millions off of say a t-shirt with a pic of our car and a pro-touring logo, no one would try it? Its all about trying to make money.
Now as for his wives, I'll take the girl next door (Bullock) any day over the porn star. Who needs that headache? Ok some of you want it, not myself. Besides, most girls next door are that dirty little porn star when the lights go out. You can give me Bullock anyday.

I go to the local roundy-round track here in SoCal (Irwindale Speedway) most Saturday nights. They run a figure 8 program, and Jesse James has a figure 8 car that he enters in the races. I don't know if he's fearless, stupid, or just doesn't give a damn, he's torn up that car many times wrecking into the other cars in the turns and in the X. He's got money to burn so he can afford the damage, he'll let his crew haul off his wrecked car back to the shop while he takes off for a night of partying in his Bentley Continental GT. The other drivers don't have those deep pockets however. The kids do love him, and you'll see a lot more people in the stands when they run figure 8. You'll see Jesse James name on the marquee sign for the track the nights they run figure 8 too. He does a good job of driving I'll admit, and has had some podium finishes. But even then he can't shake his bad-boy persona, he'll say stupid things about not caring about winning, and with all those kids looking at him he'll pose for pictures for the track photographer holding the trophy upside down and giving the finger. Not really the kind of person I'd want my kids (if I had any) to emulate. The best thing I can say is his figure 8 car has these 180 degree headers that sound absolutely wicked at full throttle. They really howl.

I am not trying to start a pissing match here, I hear what you are saying about Jesse James. Sure, he was the first guy to be featured on the big bike reality shows. It all stemmed from that camel bike competition. The guy is talented, but my point is that timing and a clever marketing strategy made him stand out in a group of very talented craftsmen. Which to me is a shame that he happened to be in that place at that time because, at least for my own enjoyment, I would much rather watch someone that I can respect as an individual as well as his work. Such as a Foose, or Trepanier.

they brought jesse into a bike show here in fayetteville ark about 3 years ago . he was a dickhead ! major dickhead ! one of the sponsors that he was " selling out " to was a tool company that rented a top floor of a restraunt, jesse wanted to go out on the deck and look over the street , but he demanded that we clear the outside deck for him only ! this deck is a 50ft x15ft it had only 10 pepole on it . we did not clear the deck ,and he finally came out on it with us and the 10 pepole .
then he was walking back out side when a kid about 8 yrs old wanted his autograph he grabed the had and signed it ,then said " get out of here kid " in a real loud way . now i understand that he probally gets tired of signing autographs but this was a kid that didnot understand and was yelled at by a " tv" star ?

I am not a bike show fan because choppers are POINTLESS. I'll stick with my Buell. Choppers are like the cars that we don't like to see at shows, they are minimally used, overly polished, and under achieving in peformance. Yeah, alot of them have over 120 hp but most of 'em are rigids. You ever ridden a chopper, they suck. To be harpin' and moanin' about what JJ says in Hollywood is as pointless as the motorcycles are themselves.

Never said they weren't fast, I've ridden a few that were faster stop light to stop light than my East Troy, Michcigan built Buell, and that is very impressive. As far as cruising, they are the worst bikes I could think of to take on an all day outing. Choppers aren't made for cruising they're made for parking and being shiney. They are like pro-street cars that have huge engines, uncomfortable racing seats, and never get driven.
What is the max lean angle on a chopper, non-existant? I have nearly scraped my knees with the Buell with complete cofidence and control. I guess I like the Pro-Touring style, not pro-street, with my motorcycle as well. The orange bike was a bike I turned a quick profit on, was glad to see it move fast, it was a rigid. Had a hundred inch Rev-tech. The Buell has fuel in frame, oil in swing arm, micron pipe under belly, 1405cc millenium 103hp, the perfect bike.

You are comparing a chopper to a performance bike. With your arguement (for lack of a better word) on this subject your logic would dictate that a beautiful 30 something street rod is useless because it is uncomfortable for a long trip :dunno: . I dont own a chopper or a street rod but have a few friends that do and there goal was not to travel across the country. MOst of them dont even venture outside of a 10 mile radius of their homes. I say to each their own.

I apply the mentality toward cars to bikes as well. All around performance with a focus on balance and cornering. So whensomeone who builds vehicles that I am not interested in speaks I tend not to be interested, and if that person is from Hollywood you can bet I don't care.
Why would you take a bike and rake the forks to a point where steering is diminished by say 70%, it's beyond me. They are pretty though, huh?

Local motorcycle shop owner Billy Lane, who has appeared on the Discovery Channel's "Biker Build-Off" and "Monster Garage," was injured in a Labor Day traffic accident that left a motorcyclist dead.

The 9 p.m. accident involving the 36-year-old Lane, the owner of the Melbourne-based Choppers Inc. and a resident of Melbourne Beach, occurred on State Road A1A south of Melbourne Beach near the intersection of Ballyshannon Street

Florida Highway Patrol investigators said Lane was trying to pass two other vehicles on A1A when his southbound 2006 Dodge Ram pickup collided with a northbound 1983 Yamaha motorcycle.

The motorcyclist, identified as 56-year-old Melbourne Beach resident Gerald Morelock, was wearing a helmet. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Lane hit the motorcycle head on, and then the pickup hit a power pole,” said Kim Miller, spokeswoman for the Florida Highway Patrol.

Miller said a passenger in the pickup, identified as 22-year-old Erin Derrick of Rockledge, was also injured in the crash. Lane and Derrick were transported to Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne but their medical conditions were not immediately available this morning.

Lane, who was semi-conscious at the accident scene, is known for his work building custom-made motorcycles.

Florida Highway Patrol traffic homicide investigators said no charges were filed, but added they were waiting on the results of blood-alcohol tests, which will be available in six to eight weeks.

Employees contacted at Lane’s chopper shop this morning would not comment.

Billy Lane faces DUI manslaughter charges

COCOA, FLORIDA — With four attorneys by his side, nationally renowned motorcycle designer Billy Lane quietly turned himself in to authorities today on charges his blood alcohol was twice more than the legal limit during a collision that left a 56-year-old man dead.

Lane was arrested on charges of driving under the influence manslaughter, driving with his license suspended and driving under the influence with serious bodily injuries stemming from the Sept. 4 accident on State Road A1A, south of Melbourne Beach.

Gerald Vernon Morelock, a Sebastian Inlet park ranger from Melbourne Beach, was killed in the head-on collision between his moped and Lane’s pickup.

“At the time of the crash (Lane’s) license had been suspended,” said Florida Highway Patrol Spokeswoman Kim Miller of Lane, whose case has drawn attention from motorcycling enthusiasts across the country.

“He should have never been behind the wheel,” Miller said.

Lane’s blood alcohol level tested at .192, more than twice the state’s legal limit of .08, Miller said. Lane’s attorney issued a statement.

“We are currently conducting our own investigation of every aspect of this accident, including the blood alcohol level,” said Melbourne attorney Kepler Funk.

Morelock’s brother, Byron Morelock of Indialantic, praised the efforts to bring in Lane on DUI manslaughter charges. He described his brother “Jerry” as a friendly, fun-loving man who moved to Brevard from Ohio in 1984. “I’m relieved, but I had faith in the arresting patrolman, and I have faith in our legal system,” Byron Morelock said.

“(The investigator) kept in touch with me and said the investigators were crossing their t’s and dotting their i’s. I’m relieved, but it’s such a shame this had to happen. There are no winners in this thing. Relieved is the wrong word, maybe just that some of the tension is gone.”

Monday, a Florida Highway Patrol trooper led a handcuffed Lane out of the highway patrol’s Cocoa headquarters about 1:30 p.m. to a waiting patrol car.

Lane, looking disheveled and staring ahead quietly, was placed in the front seat of the patrol car then escorted to the Brevard County Jail Complex where he was photographed and booked into the jail. He was released within 90 minutes on a $15,000 bond, officials said.

“That does seem low, but unfortunately for us, we don’t set the bond,” Miller said. “We would like to see a higher bond, but it’s a standard bond.”

Lane will have to turn over his passport and cannot get behind the wheel as part of the requirements of his bond, Miller said.

Investigators said the accident happened after Lane, the custom chopper builder featured on Discovery Channel’s Biker Build-Off and Monster Garage, crossed a double yellow line to pass several other vehicles before striking Morelock’s 1983 Yamaha moped.

Lane had been drinking throughout the day, according to investigators. He was at Coconuts on the Beach Restaurant and Bar in Cocoa Beach earlier and left the popular nightclub and headed to Cheaters, another popular nightspot, where he had several other drinks, officials said.

Lane got on his motorcycle with a passenger identified as Erin Levens Derrick and rode to his business, Choppers Inc., on the 1200 block of U.S. 1 in Melbourne.

It was there at the shop that Lane and his passenger got into a black, custom-painted 2006 Dodge Ram pickup and headed toward his beachside home.

Later on State Road A1A, a two-lane highway that parallels the beach and cuts through a heavily residential area, Lane was spotted passing the double white line to speed southbound past three vehicles on the darkened road, officials said. Several of the other motorists told Florida Highway Patrol investigators that they saw a headlight in the distance belonging to the northbound moped ridden by Morelock. Investigators said Lane saw the light, then attempted to veer east when the pickup slammed head-on into the moped, killing Morelock instantly. The moped was destroyed, its mangled wreckage tossed 64-feet away.

Lane’s pickup rolled off the road, knocking over three palm trees and overturned into a power pole, reports show.

Brevard County Fire-Rescue paramedics arrived minutes later and found Lane, injured but conscious, still in the driver’s seat. Paramedics said they also smelled alcohol.

Both Lane and his passenger, Derrick, were taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne for treatment.

But at the hospital, Lane, still able to speak, refused a request from investigators to draw blood. Troopers then had to hold Lane down while a nurse took the blood sample, officials said. He went home the next day.

Investigators did not immediately file charges in the case, something that raised the ire of family members and motorcycle bloggers on the Internet. But agents — who described the crash scene as one of the worst they had seen in recent years — turned over Lane’s blood to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement laboratory in Orlando and asked that the case be given a priority.

“They actually put a rush on it and his blood alcohol actually came back twice the legal limit of .08,” Miller said. The deadly crash was also not the only run-in with traffic enforcement for the celebrity biker. In June, North Carolina Highway Patrol officers arrested Lane on drunken driving charges.

Police in that case said Lane drove on the wrong side of a two-lane road without a helmet. Lane refused a breath test and is due in court Oct. 5 for those charges, according to the Rowan County Clerk of Courts. His refusal to take the test resulted in his license being suspended for a year.

Miller said having a revoked license should have kept Lane from behind the wheel but apparently wasn’t enough to keep Lane from driving again.

I have seen so little of most people involved with these shows that I cant really make any kind of read about the type of person they are. I think they are all very skilled in their craft.

The only person I can say I have any respect for as a person from what I have SEEN ON TV is Foose. The guy seems like he he is genuine with his love for family, friends, cars, etc.

I have been the little guy car builder , doing everything in my dads driveway, just trying to keep it real and getting me to work.
I met Jesse once for about 5 minutes he looked over my shoulder to see some pics of car i had built, I chatted with him about it , he was cool, met Billy too, little more on the aloof side but still ok. sucks he killed someone but we have repeat offenders out there with several DUI/DWI etc and for 1500 to 5000 you can get out from under it most times. I know a fella who killed someone in accident and not drunk and it really weighs on most people.
As for Chip Foose, well he is an egotisticle *****(may have just been bad day but ,,,) the day i met him, his dad is cool as they come, but the cars they build are out of my price range so over priced gook wagons.
Met Troy T now he is class act.
Got a personally signed Hot Rod with Boyds 57 on it and he was real cool ,let me start the 57 on 97 power tour, very nice fella,
We will all have our opinions on everyone.
As for Sandra Bullock shes is very tallented and very beautiful, as for porn stars.models met a few in my time, just read an FHM with some blond who is dating Tommy Lee, excuse me but porn industry has little problems, (ie drugs, HIV, organized crime,etc) not impressed for the most part.
Met another car builder who impressed me more, even built a niche buisness, ya all need to go look at his first car that even burnt up in a fire,,, Bret Voekel. That guy is a class act and came form rural America and is still there and builds some cars very nice (now mostly for his buisness).
But I figure properly stimulated we can all build something awesome.

I know Janine she sponsors the 15 car and our CIFCA funny car, really a nice person the ink is a little over the top but still a very cool person.

I also had the misfortune of meeting Jess James at a race and up unitl that time I was a fan of his work and the show.

Jesse never thought he would be famous, nor what fame was about. He was in Daytona in 98 or 99. He was preying to topple Alren Ness, it took him a few years but he did. He is a hard core biker and worker. I work hardcore. I do not want to be bothered, while I am working. If I got famous it would not last. Jesse knows that nobody would talk to him, if he had not got lucky with the shows. The show did not change him.

He quit building bikes because he was swarmed to the point to where he could not get anything done. He is the true king bike builder, although I hate Rigids, his metal work is A+.

streetfytr, brabbit and steemin all nailed it. as for dupree any knob that uses a chainsaw for music... well i'll just repeat what a knob. he is on our local radio station all the time also, he got his 15 minutes, know he should go become productive. JJ is hard in a world of physically, emotionally and mentally weak sheepeople. i admire him and live and act like a much poorer version. Most kids who follow into a family business are f.......ds, they dont have to work for it they piss it away and kill it after the old man walks away or dies at work. The world has enough people with no backbone who are worried about everyones being comfortable and political correctness. It really is one of roots to many problems in modern society.
