the 400 hp variety sold overseas in the middle east. Looks like a commodore, only this one is right hand drive and is sporting a GM test plate.

interesting.....

Umm...don't get too excited. Sometimes GM will put Chevy and Pontiac badges on cars they make overseas to get an idea of what kind of car they could market it as in the U.S in the event they decided to bring it over. At the Tech Center I have seen so many Chevy's and Pontiacs that I never heard of or didn't recognize only to see them vanish into obscurity. 3 years ago I saw what I thought was the new Caprice Classic. I mean...the car said, "Caprice Classic" on the fender and it was wearing Chevy badges. I'd never seen the car before or even knew that we were developing one. We weren't. It was just GM playing around with an idea like they always do. I never saw the car again. What you saw was probably a current production model from some far off country somewhere that some department stuck a Lumina emblem on to pitch an idea. Nothing more. If it was an actual car that was being developed for North America, believe me, that thing would have been dressed up to hide it's curves.

I don't know Tony, I just got the new Motor Trend and on the cover, it appears, is the exact same car in the above pics and video- except it's labeled as the next Gran Prix! Which makes total sense since GM is purported to be pushing Pontiac towards a complete rear-wheel drive line-up. I was going to post a link, but it looks like they haven't updated the web-site with the new issue.

That might be off the Aura architecture. But why would they call it "Lumina"? Malibu replaced Lumina and the new Malibu will follow Aura into production next year. As for the Grand Prix story...I'm clueless. Very interesting. I'm going to have to do some asking around tommorow to get to the bottem of this. Of course if I find anything out I obviously can't divulge it. But I'll tell you what I CAN do; If I fall silent in this thread....think happy thoughts.:)

I thought Pontiac was going to Alpha-numeric names...a la G8. I might have an easier time convincing my wife of this one rather than the 2 door 4 seat Camaro...I better start working on it now. It looks a little boxy compared to the G6 and G5, yeah I know it's still an aussie rebadge of the Commodore. This looks a little small to be a GP replacement.

Hmmm, wife needs a new ride. I think I'd have an easier time talking her into that than a Vette.
