Generally, an aluminum will shed heat much more efficiently than the standard copper/brass 4-core so your overall operating temperature will remain lower. And, by going with an electric fan (a quality one that is...) you can relieve a small amount of stress from the motor thus helping it run slightly cooler and freeing up some ponies. Currently, the best reason for switching to an electric fan is so that you can have the ability to "tune" it to your motor by way of adding a variable speed fan controller. Realize that HO fans can pull some serious amperage so you have to weigh your options: Run on the ragged edge of alternator fatique by using HD relays on a stock charging system, spend more $$$ to upgrade the alternator to handle your new fan or go with a controller that will allow you to retain your stock alternator in most cases and have the flexibility of being able to program the controller to suit your needs? Currently, there are really only two options for good controllers: Spal and DC Controls. While they both offer PWM designs, they differ by the amount of adjustability and where they take the temperature readings from. Nobody else really makes a controller worth looking at. -Jabin
