how do you guys do it? i am on a budget.. i was just curious if the ls1 calipers would work with a 13" brake even if i have to make a bracket. I would rather build it than buy it.. well not really but i will build it if i can do it alot cheaper lol

The rotors are available at most parts stores, the 13" rotors for the c4 are the heavy duty brake option, the caliper brackets are c5 corvette, the calipers can be c5 or 4th gen f body. The calipers have the same dimensions but are made differently, the corvette calipers are stronger. Buy the parts, much easier and no problems with fitment. I bought the mounting brackets from Speedtech, the caliper baskets from the chevy dealer, the calipers from a parts store, loaded calipers. the same for the brake hoses. If you buy on line you can probably save a few dollars.

I bought NAPA rotors (I went with the drill/slotted rotors but could have put just replacement rotors for $120 a set) -Speed Tech brackets $125 - NAPA pads (ceramic $85)- GM caliper cages $38-GM calipers $98 Don't cheat yourself on brakes... you need good brakes whether you're running a 250 6-cylinder or 502 big block

one more question anyone know if a c5 rear caliper will bolt to a f-body rear backing plate so the HD c4 12" rotor will work. I think i worded that correct thanks Scott

I purchased the c5 calipers gonna buy the speed tech bracket. the only question i still have is before i have the ls1 housing ends put on my 9 inch. Will the c5 rear rotor work with my f-body rear backing plates. I would like to keep the parking brake functional. thanks Scott

smeshey--if ya don't mind me asking where did you pick up the C5 calipers from? I am about to start sourcing parts for the swap on my Nova and am trying to get an idea on parts cost.

The C5 caliper will bolt directly to the LS1 f-body backing plate.

got my C5 calipers off E-bay fronts and rears for $180 including shipping already had ls1 backing plates i got those for $35 off local board. Still need a set of front baskets if anyone has them. havnt ordered them but found some good deals on rotors on E-bay also.

Hey Shep thanks for the answer but what I am wanteing to know is if a C5 ROTOR will work with a f-body backing plates. Since the parking brake is built into the backing plate. I am not sure if a C5 Rotor has the parking brake also built in and if it is the same size.

Thnaks for all the responces Scott

I have some C4 bracket templates on my web page, they may also work for the C5 rotors but I can't say for sure.

If you need pieces/parts this is where I got all of my baskets and other hardware...
http://www.superchevyperformance.com/brakes/c4brakes.html
There is also a lot of info so look through the site. They were MUCH cheaper on this stuff then a regular dealer!
I picked up two sets of calipers off eBay, one black and one red, for very cheap. You would do good to check it out and I wouldn't pay more then 200 or so for a set of used calipers. I got a complete set of used 13" & 12" rotors (for mock-up and such, perfectly usable if I was so inclined) for less then 60 bucks shipped and a brand new set for 100 shipped. Right now I have two complete sets of C5 brakes and I have less then 700 into everything...

No problem, bud... Verify prices though. The site used to have the prices listed and now they aren't so, call your local dealer with the part numbers just to verify them.

I will have half the money in this set up compared to the Wilwood equal brake kit. I will be able to buy parts at any parts store...
