View Full Version : LS1 brake manual master cylinder size
I have a 69 camaro with 2001 LS1 calipers on all 4 corners. I will be running a manual master cylinder, because I do not have enough vacuum for a booster. What bore size master cylinder is correct for this setup? I have been told 15/16, but I wanted to get a few more opinions before I go ahead and purchase one and maybe save myself some aggravation.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Trevor

i am in about the same situation. I remember reading some post that suggested a late 70's vette manual master. Not sure what pistion size but i was thinking 7/8 or 15/16.

70's vette manual master is 1". LS1 master is 1", but is power not manual.
It also depends on your pedal ratio and I can't think of what that is for a 69 Camaro, but if it is 6:1 or so then 15/16 should be good.
I did C5 calipers on my 70 vette with 5:1 pedal ratio and a 1" master and it was too large. Way too much pedal effort for my liking.
I went with the 15/16, and it just seems like there is more pedal travel than I am used to with power brakes. I guess it is just going to take some getting used to manual brakes again. I will post again if anything changes with my set up, for anyone else using these brakes.
