Valvetrain noise with a hydraulic roller??

In the continuing saga to get my 572 to run correctly I installed a full MagnaFlow exhaust this past weekend (so the neighbors would stop calling the cops). Previously the exhaust was so loud there was no way to hear the now VERY apparent valvetrain noise.

It's the factory hydraulic roller cam with GM roller rockers. Now that the exhuast is quiet I can hear what sounds like the rockers 'rattling'. In the recent past (when the exhaust was loud) I checked valve lash and made sure the rocker lock nuts had not backed off from the factory (they're marked with paint). Everything looked good at that time.

This is my first roller cam/rockers, are they notoriously noisy? Loud enough to hear them from inside the car?

Certain brands of roller rockers are definitely noisy enough to hear from inside the car; at least mine are. I have Comp Cams aluminum-body full rollers on my 355.

My Ford Racing Performance products 347 c.i. crate engine has roller rockers and a roller cam and I have a little valve train noise as well. i have had some very knowledgable people look at it and apparantly it is just the nature of the beast in certain engines.

I have heard about it alot on ls1's, but apparently it isn't a big deal

Same here, my motor at idle sounds like a sewing machine yet is it good to go.
