I am changing the interior color of my 68 bird over to black, so I hooked up with some dude who was actually interested in the beautiful aqua color interior I had to offer. after removing the lower part of the back seat, I saw this paper hanging in the springs. It ended up being the broadcast sheet for the car. The car will never go back to the way it came off the assembly line (at least not under my ownership), but it would be interesting to see what options and whatnot this had back in the day. Suprisingly, the build sheet is in spectacular shape, roughly 99.5 % of it can be made out. So is there anyway to decode these things?

Some of the buildsheets I've found in my vehicles actually listed what the option was next to the code itself. Some options may be abbreviated but should be readable. Unless this is some other sort of broadcast sheet you've found. Some books about the type of vehicle in question can help decode those options. If not try other forums specific to your vehicle.

If you have the option list available, the sheet should correspond to that.

PHS or Pontiac Historical Society will should have all the info on your car. Unlike Chevy, most all the Pontaic records are still available.

Go to Classicalpontiac.com or 1stgenerationfirebird.com. The are people and a decoding site to answer all your questions.

You can also spend $35 for the build information on your car from PHS (Pontiac Historical Services) as previously mentioned.

All this is great however if you are going to modify the car, who cares???

I care. I'd simply like to know how the car came from the factory, simple as that, just curious I guess. I'm not gonna kill myself trying to find out what all the codes mean though. A guy that I work with has a book thats made for chrysler products and all it is is a book of codes to decode the broadcast sheets, so I figured with all the people on here that work on these older cars that someone might know if something existed like this for GM.

thanks for the info by the way vintageracer

The information is all out there, it's just how hard you want to look it.
