I have been reading this forum for a few years now. This is a great forum and i have learned a lot. I have 68 firebird that needs everything! My dad bought it for me as my first car. I was so excited at first. Then i became confused. We bought this car with no drive train and it was a basket case. No 400 hood as it was stolen. Then after we bought it i was lookin through the trunk and noticed there were rivets lining the fender wheels. Someone had put fiberglass quarters over the orginals! Then i noticed all the bondo hiding that mess. I then got angry and ripped the panels off with my bare hands were the bondo had cracked. I knew then this car was in trouble. I was only 15 and of course had no money. My dad didnt offer to help and quickly lost interest. I had no choice but to let it sit. Since then i have had been driving beaters. I love muscle cars and have always dreamed of having a nice one. I have the skills to rebuild the car but never had the money. Now 13 years later I work in the USAF and live overseas. I have been saving money to restore the car by always driving cheap cars. Now my problem is that I live in Japan! Luckily my brother is in the custom truck buisness back home. He is going to do all the body work. I am ordering full quarters, front fenders, and the 400 hood next week! Finally I am getting started on getting this bird back on the road instead of the junk yard. This will be my daily driver. I want it to go fast, stop fast, and handle. I dont want it to be a show car. I just want to drive it! I am planning on putting a LS1 with a 6 speed in it. I am keeping the interior stock. I love the way it looks. It has the orginal custom interior which was redone before we got the car. It looks really good but most of it is in our basement. The doors and floors are all rust free. Hopefully i will be able to take vacation and finish up with rest of the car in 2008.
