factory air ride drop??

ok ive been researching this for a few weeks and can find nothing maybe someone here can help..i bought a '03 crown vic with the sport package(17"x8"rims,duals,watts link rear suspension) i wanna lower it to get the wheels up in the wells,but keep the air bags..anyone know of a company that can make a bag that will bolt in but be 2"shorter? i know i can adjust the air ride sensor but then the bags will be real soft dont want that..actually id like to go maybe 2.25" shorter than stock so when i get it to the height i want it would be a littler firmer..oh and in the front im just gonna chop the springs to get it where i want..heres a pic of the car...oh yeah its a svt model too.. HEH HEH<not, but confuses the hell outta people>

Try Air Ride Technologies....they specialize in this sort of thing. They are in the sponsor bar to the right of this forum.

If Air ride cant help you, there's a comany called "Strut masters" that works soley on OEM systems.

google them.

I used them to replace the air ride setup on my wifes continental. They make a kit to convert your Vic to springs only, if you cant find a better way.

You are correct in the fact that you do not want to take those airsprings that are currently engineered to ride at that height and work your sensors to run at a lower height. I would suggest looking at the mounting points and relocating your mounts the amount you want to drop the car. That way you will retain the airpsring height where it was engineered to be. You can use a different airspring but I am sure you will not find one that will be a drop in and you are back to building new mounts......

ok thanks guys,..hey tony..hows about using my car as a test mule to make some drop air springs for this application??huh?huh?..just kidding......spring swap is out cause i like the way the air rides..and the self leveling..and modifying the mounts is definatly not gonna happen..its just my daily driver..oh well..guess ill live with it and focus on trying to get a limited slip in before the snow flies..again thanks

like I said... it could be done and you could completely change it over but you are looking at fab work... whether it is worth it or not is up to you. :)

If you can get us the installed height of your current airspring in hte rear, we may have an airspring that is shorter. We did an install on a Marauder a couple of years ago for Paul's High Performance in Michigan...replaced the rear airsprings and built new upper control arms and ShockWaves in the front. That car had a superchaged 5.4 4 valve engine tha made over 600RWHP. Fun.
