A friend of mine changed the steering box and pump on his 69 Camaro. He used a 3rd gen Iroc box with a replacement pump from NAPA. The original pump had smaller diameter hole in the fitting on the pressure side. The replacement pump had larger diameter hole in the pressure side fitting.
Is this larger diameter hole going to hurt the pressure? Or will it help the pressure by increasing the flow ? Or will it change the pressure or flow or feel at all ?

the pressure is controled by the relief pressure valve in the body pump and not by the diametre of the exhaust hole.

The diameter change is in the fitting that screws in the back of the pump. The old style fitting is male. The new style is female, so in order to use my stock hoses, I had to change out the new fitting with the old one. It seems to work okay, but now there is a constant high pitch whooshing sound while running.
Has anyone else done this mod?
By the way, the feel is much better than stock.
