well i test fitted my new wheels today on my 67 and come to find out..

the stock lugs are too SHORT!!!...

the lugnuts are barely on there.. no im not risking it..

what should i do to get the proper length bolts to make these work?

i used a chrome lugnut with a acorn and also a shank that goes down inside the rim hole.that way you catch plenty of threads. kinda hard to describe ill go out to garage and see if i have one and snap a pic.

extended or "long" lugnuts are the answer.

Most "chain" stores have them. places that sell high end wheels should have them in stock. The ones posted are supposed to be cragers.

Will those shanks (they look like old uni-lug shank lug nuts) fit through the openings in the wheels?

I'd go longer studs.

Longer studs is the way to go. I tried that long shank and it didnt fit into the holes on the rims.

ARP longer studs. Piece of mind your wheels won't fall off.

first off your 67 camaro is not a hub centric set-up it centers the wheels with the lugs (i.e. lug centric) so if you are installing aftermarket wheels that are thicker and have larger lug holes you absolutley need the et lugs with the 60 degree bevel and the .560 or so shaft that will fit snuggly into your wheels as far as longer lugs that is totally up to you but you cant go much longer or the lug nut will bottom out before it tightens up the wheel. you probably dont need the longer lugs but then again i cant see exactly what you have but you should have plenty holding power with the et lugs.

i just ordered a set of these from Summit.. http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=GOR%2D68187L&N=700+115&autoview=sku
i hope they work..

i figured that changing to longer studs would be a whole lot of work that i dont have the money to do right now.. and the car should be comming out in a week or so..

did you guys get longer studs when you went aftermarket?

how much of a bish is it to change to longer studs?

I had to get longer studs when I changed to Discs and aftermarket rims (tt'2's) I tried some of those lugs that you are talking about and they did not work. You might make sure that the shaft will even fit down in side the hole on your rims. I bought some at auto zone. As far as the new studs sticking out to far, not if you order the right ones. I just had to get 1/2 in longer studs.

changing studs is easy. Just tap them out. they are just pressed in usually. (right?)

you use a nut to pull the new studs into the hub. and thats it. It's a quick job.

If you can pull an axle, its an afternoon job.

They are pretty easy to install. They sometimes take persuasion (big hammer) to get out, the front's are easier if the hub isn't on the spindle, but you can get them out while they are in the car. For the rears, I'm pretty sure you need to pull the axles, but on a GM rear with c-clips, that's only about a 15 minute job in itself.

I just bought the moroso studs, and trimmed them to the length I needed.

no you shouldnt need to pull rear axels. should be plenty of room. but you will have to pull rotors off. good luck with what ever you end up doing.

Longer studs are the way to go. I used studs for disc brakes. On the rear I had to remove the axles to install the new studs as they had to be pressed in. I could not seat then using a lugnut to seat them.

APR long studs front and back!

It's worth the peice of mind and it sucks to break studs while driving at 75mph heading north on US101. Nothing like seeing sparks out your window at 1am. Don't ask me how I know this...

im going to go with longer studs... so the APR are super durable huh?

I don't know that they are more durable than others, but ARP has a reputation for providing quality fasteners for all kinds of applications. You can't really go wrong buying something from ARP.
