View Full Version : What is YOUR firewall made from??

Novacane

I just started making the templates for my custom firewall for the Novacane project. The factory firewall has been completely removed and I am starting from scratch.

I don't know if I should use aluminum with beads rolled in it or if I should use steel. I think the aluminum would be to light but would look real clean. The steel would be a tougher piece!

What do you guys think??

i would assume that the aluminum would let alot more of the heat into the cabin but then again im no expert and that would be a little sacrifice for something that would look really cool

Mine is made of tin foil and paper bags.

No, really it is made out of a sectioned steel wheel barrow tub.

I thought i saw you steal my wheelbarrow!!

Use steel. If you want to, roll some beads in it.

I used part of a Ford 302 oil pan on my camaros firewall. Gave a nice recess for the distributer. I will have to see If I can dig up some pics.

The wheel barrow tub looks awesome!!! Nice work!

Keep in mind, do you want a bulkhead or a firewall? A bulkhead is what most vehicles have between the engine and cabin, if you want a firewall it should be at least 16ga steel if not thicker and some fireproof matting would also help.
