Found this on the scta website:
Quarter Mile 1 Mile 2
281 C CGC George Poteet 155.255 171.271 170.751
Must have some tuning to do. Aren't they going for 300 mph?

The Bonneville Speedweeks
Breaking News from the Bonneville Salt Flats on Mon. August 14
The Cuda ran it's first run today at approximately 3:30 p.m., on the Bonneville Salt Flats. On it's first pass the Cuda ran 236 MPH on the short track and broke the record on the shakedown. Troy said, it was the fastest pass ever for a door-slammer on the short track. The Cuda ran 4th gear low at 6000 RPM's. The current record was 234 MPH.
George said, the car ran smooth and handled good.
The Rad Rides by Troy team was watching from the finish line and is extremely excited! We're looking forward to a second run on the long track, possibly on Tuesday. Watch the site for pictures from the Flats.
Way to go George and to the Rad Rides by Troy Team!!!
Stay tuned on our site for more results as we get them.

And I guess that answers the question about whether or not air bags are suitable for high speed running.

I was just told last night that he smashed the current record for the class with no problem, as the website says above. Sounds like this car is going to really set some major records this week after all. I guess the first few runs on the short course were just mandatory runs. I believe George also has a couple other cars that he is running this week also, busy man. I also was told that the JBC diesel project was quite the operation. The streamliner had some issues on the first pass, but they did the repairs and were running again this week for the number. Pretty cool, wish I was there!
