Mark it up baby! Supply/demand, zero supply and pent up demand. LOL :geek:

I love this line:

"Winning bid is the amount over MSRP you will pay for this vehicle."

This guy's out of his freakin mind...what a sleaze. These are the scumbag dealers that give car dealers a bad name. Though, I can't believe there's people dumb enough to bid...hey, they get what they deserve.

Can't wait till 2010 when they are going to be selling them for 10K under list, like the 04 GTOs.

I seriously doubt that will happen.. however, paying over MSRP is like a tax for being stupid..

I know car dealers are businesses but this stuff just hurts GM.

What a total scumbag. I'll bet he's one of the first of many dealers who will mark this car up 40% and kill our sales in the first year as a result. I am going to speak to administration first thing Monday to report this dealership and it's actions and see if there is anything we can do to stop them from attempting to gouge our customers. There is no justification for this. They are motivated by total greed.

Andrew...you're comparing apples to oranges. The GTO failed for obvious reasons. All that car was, was a new nose...some new seats...and a few GTO badges. Nobody was buying it...they new it was a Holden in disguise. The Camaro is a totally different animal. It will begin life as a Camaro, straight off the Zeta platform.

Any of you tried to buy a new zo6 vette, you can't touch one for msrp.A friend of mine give 10g on top of msrp.the cheapest I've found is 5g on msrp.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought a dealer has to sell x number of pickups, Impalas etc before they get a Corvette or Camaro? If you had an allotment of a type of car, you'd order them loaded, then mark them up.
In my opinion GM quality is not GMs problem, it their dealers.

the only thing GM cares about is selling them, they are going to give **** how a dealer does it.if a dealer wants to auction the right to own the 1st one they get so be it.

If gm cared what there dealers did z06's would be going for 10g over msrp

LOL.... I just emailed him and asked if the car is original or a clone.

He listed his phone number, we should hammer him with calls and see how long it takes for him to pull the ad :)

Paying over MSRP for vehicles is nothing new, it has been done since the dawn of day! All "first run" vehicles will have this issue, like ROCKETMAN said, the Z06 is no different or look at the Ford T-Bird or better yet that joke of a truck/street rod that GM has discontinued. I look at it this way, it does not pay any different to the the first year or the third, actually I prefer the later. IMOH, the Challenger looks better anyway, lets see if GM actually brings it out like their proto, we could be looking at another version of the GTO when all is said and done!

On a positive note, if they're marking up vehicles, that means they are a big hit with buyers. We don't want them offering huge discounts again because their line up sucks.

Just for the record, I don't have a problem whatsoever with these guys doing this. Supply and demand. It is that simple. We all remember how crazy the ZR1 market was, hell even the Miata went through this gestation period of MSRP+. It's just fun to yank their chains a little :hammer:

I hope I am wrong and GM sells 300,000 per year. The more that are made, the more potential donor vehicles for engines. However you have to admit that GM is good at sucking.

Well then....I guess I won't do anything.

I still think it sucks though.

If I have to, I'll wait another year to buy mine so I'm not gouged by the dealership.

I think you have the right idea, let the market play out a little then go in. One would think that if GM really ramps up production numbers, MSRP sould not be too far behind the first cars out to market. The kicker will be if they come out with a kick ass limited number option IE:LS7, I'm afraid the average Joe will be SOL.
