Hey guys,

I am new to the forum, but not for the love of 69 Camaros. I have wanted one ever since I saw that movie, Better Off Dead. I did own a 99 Nissan Maxima, which I needed something reliable since I was doing a lot of commuting to work and it was flooded with Hurricane Katrina last year. I had insurance, so I got almost $10K, which is more than what I could have sold it for and bought an 05 Infiniti G35 Sedan. Now I got the pro touring fever and want to buy one.

Here is my question. Can I buy a decent one, similiar to this one linked below, for $35 to $40K. I paid $30K for my infiniti, but I can't see spending more than $40K for one since I am on a budget and would be using selling my infiniti and buying a truck to drive mostly. I only drive 10 miles a day if that, so commuting isn't a problem any more. Does anyone have a pro touring car as there only auto or just as a toy? I am guessing the later.

Thanks,

Matt

I drive mine all day, every day, rain or shine. Sometimes I even park it outside in the rain just because I can. It's only broken on me beyond roadside repair once, and I knew it was coming as i bought the car with a terribly weak transmission. Every break has been my fault, too, lol.

Anyway, yeah, you should be able to get into a pretty nice car for 35-40k. The market is hot right now, though, so be on the lookout for scams and flipper cars that are nothing more than basket cases with shiny wheels bolted on.

That one on ebay looks pretty sweet though!

Then you should buy a 67 Camaro (http://www.betteroffdeadcamaro.com/). :)

Welcome. 30k will buy you a nice ride, at least if numbers matching and rarity doesn’t matter. 69 is the highest $$ Camaro, generally. So you might get more for your $$ if you look for another year.

I don't care about numbers matching since I want a pro touring one, preferrably with an ls1.

The higher end pro-touring '69s with LS1s, etc are generally in the $50k+ range. I'm sure you'll still be able to find a nice pro-touring '69 (or maybe 67/68) in your price range, though. It's all about finding the right deal. Maybe try to find a project that is almost completed, but the owner needs to sell for one reason or another.

Thanks. I found a nice one on ebay. However, I would like it inspected before I buy. I am in Louisiana and the car is in Colorado. I don't think the car will sell, so I plan on email the seller to set up the inspection. If that checks out, I plan on putting my 05 G35 Sedan up for sale immediately. I have $40k in cash, so I could buy the car and then sell mine. If it falls thru, i will keep looking as I am in no hurry.
