hello. first post. i cant say im really building a "pro-touring" car, more of just updating my 64 dart gt convertible. not looking to take her to SEMA or anything like that, i just want my car to have an uptodate suspension and drivetrain. the plans so far call for a new style hemi, alterktion up front, tko 500, and all wheel disc brakes. i just recieved my alterktion unit and may install it this fall. at times i get caught up in the "i gotta keep up with the big boys" when it comes to doing my car, but then i come to my senses and remember what my original plans were. which are to have a fun car that i can hop into and go for a drive down two lane black top roads, with the top down and the radio playing some good tunes, or take it to local shows to meet other people. i read an artical in a 1964 Car and Driver magazine about what it is to drive a "GT" car in a gran-touring sorta way. very interesting artical. what i got out of it was a direction to take my car in. which is to update her so i can go "gran-touring" across the states. i dont know the history of my car, only that it was built in detroit, started life as a 64 dart gt convertible, slant six 225, push button transmission car. i bought it from a guy in wisconsin, he bought it from someone from michagin, and the guy from michagin bought (or brought) it from california. the car doesnt have much rust. the floors are solid, trunk is solid, frame is solid, but i have a touch of rust in the lowest part of the diverside qaurter panel. as far as body work goes, its the dents and dings that need fixin. california car? cant say for sure, but the front bumper did have a cali plate on it, so the bumpers from cali for sure...... anyway i bought the alterktion to update the front and to give me more room for the new hemi install. im not looking to wow anybody, im no pioneer nor do i want to be, i just want to bring my 64 into the 21st century. pro-touring car? probably not, but i wont get in the way. im just here to learn stuff from you pioneers. i guess you can consider me a:lurk: er

Hey, a first gen Dart. The wife and I absolutely love those. Probably the coolest Dart I have ever seen was a light blue 64 with a 360 and it wasn't PT. I really enjoy working with Bill Reilly for my suspension parts. It's nice when the owner of a buisiness answers the phones.
We have a 67 Dart GT that is waiting in the wings for when the 'cuda gets done. It's for the wife and she really wanted a first gen A-body with push button so this one will probably get a 4L80E with push button. Good to see you here. All the mopar websites are OEM's and drags. This is the place to be. BTW Bill is working with Air Ride Tech on 2nd gen Air 4-bar but maybe he could do something for yours. You can sub coils for bags.

thanks guys. yeah, Bills awsome to work with. i highly recommend him. hes the only guy so far that does early A-body stuff. i actually didnt know what early darts looked like up until about a year ago. now i cant get enough of them. here a few more pics of some 64s that are drivable (unlike mine).
