BBC short water pump

Looking for some advice,
I got a good deal on an edelbrock short water pump for my big block chevy. The problem is I currently have a long water pump with alternator and power steering brackets for a long pump. I want to know if I can use the short pump with some spacers and the alternator and power steering brackets I am using now.

I am getting the feeling this won't work.

Changing out accessory brackets will probably be cheaper than having to possibly replace the water pump later.... and maybe paying for towing because of WP failure due to added strain and/or misalignment of WP bearing.

Moroso makes water pump spacers # 63610. CSR also makes spacers in both 1/2" and 1" but you will probably have trouble making your accessory brackets work with either spacer.
