I used to use my everyday ins. company, which used to be Metropolitan. Now I am ready to register and insure my bird again and am thinkin of trying out Grundy. Their rates are killer!!! Does anyone else use them, and if so how do you feel about them?

The only problem that I have with these companies are that the comp and collision are only $50,000. Most of us don't realize that one accident with medical expenses will be far more than that. The insurance company covers the first $50,000 and the rest comes from your pocket. I'm not knocking them at all, just make sure you contact your normal insurance agent to compare coverages – the collector car insurance agencies can raise their coverage to compensate.

I use Hagerty and I like the agreed value aspect of the insurance. Some kid hit my car a couple of weeks ago so I am currently in the middle of the claims process. I will refrain from passing judgement until it is all done, but I can already tell this would be much easier if I was dealing with an agent who was local.

Just something to think about.

I use progressive/drive, which is nice because I have a local agent, but I have no agreed value. The tradeoff is no mileage limitation.

I'm still thinking about switching to grundy/hagerty...just don't want to get into a "lets take the bird out! ohhh, nope, hagerty says I've driven it all I can this year" situation.

I would have to double check, but I am pretty sure Hagerty has no limit on yearly mileage. The two things they request are that you keep the car in a locked/secured garage and that it is not your only car/daily driver.

The only problem that I have with these companies are that the comp and collision are only $50,000. You mean liability (C&C would be the agreed value)? Hagerty let me match my daily driver policies (100/300, I believe). I can double check when I get home. Also, the only restriction I saw on my policy is racing – if I crash it racing, I lose.

That's what I meant.:pat: See I ain't a no insurance agent.

Most of us goggle over such low prices to have their car insured – just make sure you are covered well.

im wondering this too, i would use hagerty but as i remember it you could NEVER drive it to work or school so that ruins it for me, however as of right now i would be royally ****ed if anything happened since they just see a 68 camaro and i believe they dont pay for aftermarket parts.

So any ideas on a relitively daily driven pt car?

same with grundy, no mileage limitations. I haven't actually signed on to be with grundy, but what they have offered me is:

$0 deductable
300,000 liability
full coverage comprehensive and collision

I had put that my car is worth $10,000 in the agreed value section.
and for only $173 a year, sounds pretty darn good. I told them in the online form that it was mainly used for car shows, cruise nights, and an occasional trip to work. We'll see what happens.

I use Chrome from American National Property & Casualty (ANPAC). They required that I also list my daily drivers with my toys and the deductable is 5% of agreed upon value (on the toys). They limit my miles per year to 3000 (on the specialty vehicles) but it doesn't matter when or where I drive them (except of course at any track). My premium for 5 vehicles is 3K per year which seemed very reasonable to me.

I have Haggerty and they have been good so far. I blew a tranny in one of my cars and they picked up 75% of the tow to my house. Quick and easy. PLEASE post how your claim turns out.

By the way the agent is only there to collect their yearly take from your policy money. They have zero pull when it comes to claims unless you have quite a few cars and houses. Otherwise you just get to yell at someone in person rather than on the phone.
