Thanks, thats the factory color its being painted. I thought it would be a change to see a different color running around these days.

You wanted a different color, so you painted it factory? That's pretty ironic! Looks good Bruce. Like the rims too. Are those 18s?

Blaster11
08-01-2006, 01:56 PM
Different from every one else not for me since it was not that color when I purchased it. Wheels are Gasser D's 17x8's front with 17x9.5 on back.

Color is killer. Everyone that comes by is like, WOW! It's nice to one something a little different. The painted bottom and detail frame rails worked out looking real nice.

Good choice on the factory color, too many reds/blacks now.

Ha! thats why I stuck with the April Gold- I like the factory metallics (Tyrol blue, Lucerne, etc). I really dig that color in the 1st gen birds. If i had to change colors, it'd be similar to that.

The firewall and frame are a single stage skei gloss we make with acrylic enamel, flatner and activator. The color is base clear underneath, Jeff, these two would make a cool photo shoot together when they are done

Nice...I too like the subframe detail. It is diffucult to present detail without contrast.

Frank still needs to work on his alinement skills,

He was not supposed to post that pic with our special autocross alignment! This project is quicky becoming a favorite of ours. We molded the scoops, actually by necessity because the inserts fit so badly, but the end result made it a awesome hood. Looks hot with the 68 chrome grill in front of it. We will see color in the next few days.

Looking great! Truely an insperation to my 67 project.

I was wondering, why the black was sprayed before white for the stripes?

ProdigyCustoms
08-17-2006, 04:54 PM
Hey Blaze, The stripes were laid out at the desired width, sprayed black, then a 1/8 tape was put along the edge before shooting white to give it a perfect black pinstripe. Gives it a real formal "tuxedo" look. It will really pull in the black and white houndstooth interior.

Here it is all shinny. Couple days and it will be back in Maryland.

Johnny Blaze
08-17-2006, 05:37 PM
I see, an alternitive to the usual seperated pinstripe.

I like the whited out rear panel as well!

Can't wait to see it featured in a rag!

Finally, paint and strips.
I watched the Prodigy crew sand, and sand, and sand, and sand,
and sand, and sand, and sand, and sand, and sand, and sand, and sand, and sand, and sand, and sand, and sand, and sand, and sand, and sand, and sand, and sand, and sand, and sand, and sand, and sand, and sand, and sand, and sand, and sand, and sand, and sand, and sand, and sand, and sand, and sand, and sand, and sand, and sand, and sand, and sand, and sand, and sand, and sand, and sand on this car all weekend. I had hoped to see it painted, but it just takes time to get a body right before spraying it. I know now why I am not a paint and body man, just not enough patience.
The color is growing on me too, it should really stand out in a crowd. I can not wait to see it finished.
Good work guys.

Good work guys.

Early on when I was talking to Frank all I would say was the car needs to be straight. Frank got it and would move on to something else and all I wanted to talk about was the straightness of the car. I had seen too many cars with shiny paint and wavy bodies so all that was on my mind was straight, straight, straight, I probably sound like the line off of Monty Python :spam: :spam: :spam: :spam: :spam: :spam: :spam: :spam: :spam: :spam: :spam: :spam:

Anyway the pictures look fantastic and I am so glad I had Kris Horton do a rendering so that I could see my vision or maybe lack of vision while I still had time to make changes. Thanks for all the compliments.

Johnny - If I could get my car in a magazine or to SEMA I guess I could go ahead and die because for me that is unimaginable.

Do yourself a favor and wrap that jack handle with some foam pipe insulation.

Bruce and I met in the middle, in South Carolina to get his car back yesterday. So here are the final pics. Big props to bruce, he is a man amoungst men. Without going into details, Let's just say he wrote the wrong numbers in the final payment check. Thanks Bruce, you did not have to do that, but it is always nice to be appreciated!

And Lisa is fired as the offical Prodigy Customs photographer. hopefully Bruce will send me some better pics.

Well got home yesterday around 2:00 and had to clean out the nest and kick some of the other toys out but thats ok. I am sure glad a friend of mine loaned me he his enclosed trailer because as I am driving down the road just minding my own business when a passing trailer truck has a blow out. Actually more like an explosion and start throwing rubber all over my truck. So I am on the binders trying to get away from this guy when big pieces of sheetmetal from his truck are getting thrown in front of me (don't know where it came from), so all I am thinking is "no cut tires, no cut tires". I have to run over the top of the metal but luckily down center line and tradegy avoided. whew!!!!

Car looks great!! Thanks Frank! Thanks for the wrong number story, boy did I have some explaining to do!! Now its all on me to finish her, hopefully I can do the paint justice. The wife took lots of pictures as we were unloading it yesterday but the pictures so far really don't do the color justice. Don't get me wrong it looks good in the pictures but it looks great in person. I will post more pictures when I get them downloaded.

Thanks again Frank and thanks again to everyone on the board for all the ideas that got me this far.

Hurricane has passed so I got it outside and snapped a few pictures. So far I have put on the door handles and the rear marker lights on and have started putting the chrome inserts in the quarters but ran out of the securing nuts. I am realizing that I purchased most of the large items but am I missing a lot of little bolts and fasteners which have brought the process to a halt:seizure: . Sound deadener is on order so I can start that soon. I will try and keep updates coming.

Blaster11

Have smoked glass? Sure does! I got it from the GP superstore and had Frank install before delivery. I am really glad I did too the original glass was all fogged on the edges and scratched to sh!!. Made a really big difference kinda stealthy looking.
I have been installing the door locks and P O N T I A C script across the deck lid and am surprised by how much space the paint takes up in these holes. Something I really never thought about. Hmmm, anyway back to work.

Can you email, PM or call me. I think I NEED some smoked glass... LOL

Also FYI - Matt Martin at Autometer emailed me last week about the Nexus gauges: "We sincerely apologize for the delays we've suffered on the Nexus additions and 12 Channel Module. Unfortunately, at this time, we're looking at mid to late October. We don't expect any significant delays beyond this"

Hey Bruce -
Your car is lookin' great. Glad to see that you have it in hand and are getting it all together. Post pics of the assembly. And that color, it really stands out - Frank is really good with a brush and a roller...

Also, if you need various fasteners and can't get them locally, you can get them from Totally Stainless.

Thanks Frank. Yes, importing parts from the US is very pricey! Did you ship it through UPS, DHL, Bax Global or one of these companies?
A local guy who import parts uses a sea container I''ll contact him first.
Number one on my list is a new R.D. radiator, painting will be hopefully winter '07.
