Does anyone know of some alternate wiring methods for a cs 130 to make it produce more amperage at lower rpms. I was told that there are some ways to accomplish this w/o changing the alternator. Supposedly there is a way to trick it to charge more.

There isn't anything wrong with the current alt, the pulley is large diameter and is part of a matched canton set so changing isn't an option.

According to the local auto electric guy 200 amp version is worse at low rpm/idle.

You will need to change the pully to a smaller one
Or the crank pully to a larger one
the alternator will only put out as much amperage as it needs too up untill its max output
the only way Id think you can trick the alternator is to put a resistor inline of the refference voltage signal and that would make it put out a Higher votage and that could be a bad thing
remember voltage is like water pressure and amperage is like flow

With a standard 3-wire CS-130 style alternator, you need to relocate the remote sensing wire (usually white) to a point common with whatever accessories you want to draw more power from. Then, run a hd gauge wire (say, 8-gauge for example) from the main charge post to the opposite side of that junction. It's not true that the alternator has to reach a pre-determined rpm speed to release more current if its a stock type and not a 1-wire. This way, the alternator will "read" the amperage demand more accurately. -Jabin
