Is anyone familiar with the stock 1967 Camaro rear upper shock mount location failing? I am doing a mono to multi leaf conversion and now need to decide whether or not to relocate the rear shocks in with a crossmember or leave them in the stock location. Car is running a 383 SBC, Tremek TKO 5 speed with Moser 12 bolt Rear 3.73 ratio. Tire plans are 16x8s with 275-295 section width.
Thanks, Bo

sorry I have no answer about the shocks but I would like to know where you can get 275-295 size tires in a 16" wheel that isn't a racing tire?

I had one of the upper shock mounts bust a seam weld in the trunk area. You can relocate your rear shocks to the inside of the leafs by just flipping your rear shock mount plates. I also bought the crossmember off of jegs for about 100 bucks helps out a lot..

When you flip the shock mounts, do you also move right to left? Does anything need done to the upper shock mount? Any input would be appreciated.

yes switch left to right and there you can keep them on the same side switched but it will throw off witch one is in front and witch one is in the rear if you switch them left to right it will keep the same upper shock mounting angle

Still a little confused :candle: .......On the 1967 year Camaro's the shocks both mount in front of the axle housing. Would I switch now to a front/back stagger? Also, it appears on my car since it is not tubbed that the angle would cause the upper portion of the shock to hit the inner wheelhousing. As far as utilizing the CE crossmember from Jeg's (my initial plan) did you have to get shorter shocks? I am planning on using the Hotchkis shocks along with their multi leaf to convert my mono leafs. In reference to the 275-295 section width, I just converted about a 8-10 inch tread width from my current 15 inch rim.....in 16's that would be more along the lines of a 255 or so....
Thanks for the help!

Well currently my crossmember mount from jegs is laying in the floor because I am going to have to put shorter shocks on when i lower the rear of the car and use the new shock mount. I forgot all about 67's not being staggered mounted my bad on that one. still though I would think if you moved them inboard they would still be at a good angle in the original upper mounts.
