been on it, 129 into Tennesse, nice cruise but you really can't go much over 35mph, nice scenery, know a guy at work, biker, almost lost his head to a motor coaches side mirror, Yes motor coach!!
Bill Howells been on it, I think
fun stretch of road but if you plan to "run" it you were wear yourself out very quickly not only with all the turning but with the concentration since it is a public road with sightseers on it. I prefer the Cherahola Skyway which is very close. You're on top a ridge with valleys on either side. The scenery is much nicer than the dragon. It's just a lot more laid back. Love that whole area. I actually may try to take off and ride up into the mountains tomorrow on the bike. It's been a few months and I miss it.

Fun on a bike, sucks in a car. Too many turns and switchbacks. Several places that 25mph is way too fast. It is about an hour from my house, and I actually thought about doing it one year for the Tour in the Hills run, but it would take a half day at least to go and come back. Like others have said, not really car friendly. Great scenery though. Now, if we could shut the road down.......:naughty:

There are a few NASA hillclimb events where they get mountain roads shut down for a day. I wonder what kind of red tape is involved and what the cost would be. Also hwy 129 is a great ride in it's self and a little more car frendly
Deals Gap is like an 11 mile long auto cross course!

Deadly stretch of road. Especially for bikers. One Sevier County Sherriff's deputy said about 1 a week. They get to hot dogging and loose control. Some of the bikers who loose control, leave the road and end up in the woods/trees have not been found for several weeks!

It's fun in a car. It's just gotta be the right car. I drove over it in a friends Mini Cooper-S and had a blast!
I've been there a few times on different sportbikes.......even the one in the avatar. (zx-12r)
it's a freakin workout, and a long one at that.
I agree with above where someone said that the Cherahola Skyline is a much much nicer and higher speed drive. That area has some nice roads for sure, and beautiful scenery.
This looks like the same area, and it's funny to boot.
