View Full Version : Building a Trans Am style convert?

I really dig the old trans am style race cars, and thought about making the firebird look like one. I wouldn't go so far as to put numbers on the door, but have the over all look.

Heres the catch, the car is a convertible. I know they never used verts in trans am or just about any other form of racing, so would it just be silly, or cool?

Go for it. It's YOUR car. Just dont go to crazy. Keep the trans am touches subtle and it would be perfect.

I agree keep it subtle and it will be cool even as a vert. I wouldn't go so far as to put in a roll bar, but one of those loops wouldn't look bad.

Maybe paint it white with blue like the 700 or so 69 Trans Ams. What rims did they have, mini-lites?

My original plan was similar minus the convert, Torque thrust Ds, on the ground, and short stroke monster rpm small block with a 4 speed.

....then i discovered pro touring and the rest is history

go for it! that's what I want to do with my camaro.
light grey everything under the hood, big nasty hurst shifter and stewart warner gauges inside, 302, of course with a real cross-ram, mini-lites, and all. white firebird with blue stripes is my favorite. On the convert, just make sure the top is white too! mee likey
