I have been tossing around the idea of a two seat roadster for some time now. I have always loved the '60 Vette convertible but the cost for a bare bones car is stupid crazy. PHR's article on the Solstice is taunting me. 3,000 lb car 400 hp and all the high tech stuff that actually works complete in one little package. Granted, the wheels on the cover don't do it for me but those are trivial. Rocketing past many a supercar is what does it for me. This thing aches for track time.
Here is the link for those in doubt:

I've been thinking heavily about purchasing one as a daily driver (need something better on gas), but I'm waiting for the Solstice GXP(?) and Sky Redline to come out. Turbo Ecotec 260hp. GM will probably have Stage Kits for them available shortly thereafter (much like the cobalt SS and ion redline stage kits). 300hp, 3,000lbs and a waranty...can't beat that.

The bone stock Solstice with then non-turbo engine has set MANY track records already.
The car is very capable and just lacks power.. till now :)

I agree. I've been watching the local ads for an early Miata to do a Monster Miata conversion on. That Solstice is nice too, and turn-key :)

harshman...go for it.
I can vouch that those cars are fun to drive. I got to bring one home last Summer for a day and it was a blast. Obviously not very fast but very rigid and handles like a vette. The whole frame is hydroformed and is similar in construction to the C6. And they're suprisingly confortable too for big guys. I don't know how big you are but I am 6'2" and big shouldered (I'm about Bill Howell's size) and I fit in the thing perfect. You drop 300-350 horsepower in that thing and you'll need a bag of ice in your lap everywhere you drive it. If you know what I'm talking about.

That would be a mean little ride! What the hell, check off the LS7 option and hang on. :3gears:
