well in my earlier post i was trying to get the Bonneville started.

i did the usual tips to get it round..

it did have a low battery so i put in a new one.

it was low in gas but i put in 2 and a half gallons in.

its on a slight hill.. i dunno if that is affecting the gas lines.

i put fuel in the carb to prime it up.. but i might have accidentally put in too much.. but during the whole thing i tried to start it while priming.

i dont know what to do!.. it was running so good earlier..

please help me out guys!

If you think you may have flooded it I would pull the spark plugs and check them. I did that once and had a spare set handy. I swapped them and it fired right up..Are you running a mechanical or electric fuel pump?

i think its mechanical..

if i put too much fuel what might be a sign i did?

could i have ruined the spark plugs?

If you put too much fuel the plugs will be wet and will not allow a spark to jump.

The ones I took out that were wet didn't work next time I used them. I had to glass bead blast them to clean them up. Some how I must have flooded it and put some kind of glaze on the plugs? They would not spark after I tried to put them back a week later.

would you notice on the crank?

it cranks.. but just doesnt fire up..

i put too much here.. but it seems like it drained down
see the two circles.. it was to the brim for like a few seconds..

would the slope cause the fuel to not get to the engine? since it was practically drained?

i put fuel in the tank, and primed the carb because it was completely empty.

til the small fuel filter glass viel was filled.

why?..

Ok, try this. Pull the plugs and wipe them clean. Then reinstall them. Pull the coil wire. Turn the engine over a couple times and check the plugs. If they are wet, you know there's fuel entering the cylinder. Next, reattach the coil wire and crank for about 8-10 seconds. Hold the accelerator pedal down to the floor while you're at it. You should also get some starter fluid to spray into the carb. It sounds like it may be flooded, but it's worth the shot of the starter fluid.

The starter fluid will also be a good ignition check. I would pull the plugs as already said and clean them with brake clean , blow dry and reinstall. Or get new ones. I'm guessing you'd want to do a tune up anyway so why not start now with plugs (and cap, etc).

Good deal. Sounds like you flooded it last night and it dried out over night. Damn old cars.....lol
