View Full Version : Blah blah blah

Prompted by the blurb about Pure Vision's new '72 Torino sport project that appears in the latest Hot Rod, I was going to write about how sorry I was feeling for myself about being disappointed that I'll never be the first, the best, or even the fortunate that builds a most cool car. Then I thought "blah blah blah"... there's more important crap to be bothered by and certainly greater aspirations to pursue.
Still, it's definitely a bit of a bitch...:ripped:

i know, right? I was gonna be all cool and build a super cool pro-touring 77-78 firebird....complete with upsize snowflake-looking wheels...then boom, along comes trev's car.

Oh hey wow thanks a lot, a bigger, better, fancier version of my car, complete with a more famous paint job. Perfect.
Then I re-planned everything, and boom--project g/28 copies me part for part.
No respect, no respect at all, I tell ya.

Since when did hot rodding become another case of keeping up with the Joneses? Do your own thing, build your own car, drive the f**k out of it and put a smile on your face!

This is the idea I came up with 2 years ago and showed it to a few people. I knew I'd never get the chance to build it so I hoped it would inspire somebody else so I could see it done.

A little NASCAR flavor on a street car. Maybe?

Keeping up with the Jones's? I'm glad everyone stopped after the first Pro-Touring 69 Camaro was built. :hand: If you want to build a Torino build a Torino.

I had the greatest talk with a fellow at GM Carlisle this year who had a corvair convertible as well as one of their cargo haulers (has the side drop down gate). I love them.
Then there was the tube frame, mid-engine sbc one I saw at Lime Rock :)

What are those wheels? They're exactly what I want for my Mustang but I can't find anything like that that'll fit anywhere. I've found 8 spokes, but I want 10 spokes like this dreamy machine has.

The VSX three-piece wheels are 18x10 in the rear and 18x9 up front and have the requisite gold-painted centers to carry through the "Bandit" look of the Pontiac. For tires, Trevor went with BFG KDWs in sizes 285/40 and 255/45, which gave him the 27-inch diameter he needed to nail the stance

Many thanks Tony!
Ok I'm going to be a real pain (and a desperate thread hijacker) and ask, where can I find VSX wheels? I've been searching for a website under numerious searches and can't find anything other than the PHR article.

Man. I just wanna say that I RULE. First off the quote that those are VSX wheels is WRONG. (Steve? how could you?) A close look at the cap says VS "by work"
Work makes japanese wheels. wheels like this one.

Look familiar?
Available here D2 autosport (http://www.d2autosport.com/works.html)
they were available only through TODA racing USA. But apparently that's crap too. Took some major digging, but I can find ANY wheel.
Oh. and its called the VS-XX
search for that and....
Google PWNS!!!11!eleven! (http://www.google.com/search?q=work+VS-xx+wheels)

I have to admit I got over this feeling the moment I got a call last Saturday that my father has lymphoma. Screw keeping up with the Joneses. I just wanna turn a wrench with my father.

Bigger / better blahhhh!! Since I finished ( thats an oxymoron ) my 95 I have had more adrenaline pumped through me enjoying this car than in the last 20 years combined. I have 1/3 the cost in it compared to my 67 and have no qualms showing up in Pigeon Forge with some of the elite cars from around the country. She is presentable and a blast to drive. You don’t have to be first to do something different, enjoying the fruits of your labor on a road course / drag strip is what its all about, and most important, the camaraderie that comes along with sharing our hobby with other like minded individuals.
