tire fitment help!

hey guys, a while back i came across someone's car domain or someother site like that and read that he was able to get a 10.5 or 11 inch rear tire in his 68-72 Nova (don't remember actual year) but he didn't have to mini tub his car. i believe he rolled the lips and shortened the rearend, but i cant remember exactly what he did. does anyone know how i can get a wider tire like 10.5 or 11 without having to tub the car out? has anyone on this forum done this??

You should be able to fit a 275/40 tire under the rear with no rubbing and no fenderlip mods.

Yeah like Ben mentioned, a 17x8 with 5.5" or 6" of backspace will allow a 275/40 to fit the rear w/o any modifications. Craig's 2quicknovas site will get you on the right path.
