Seems like everyone is pissed about the Optima giveaway, so why dont we do our own giveaway, there is 5415 people on this site, if we could get 1/2 of them to contribute like 5.00 a piece we could do our own mini fix up. We could do a poll to see who should get it, make rules where they have to post weekly on the progress, and guide with what parts, styles we like. Might be a stupid suggestions but hey what the hell its 5.00!!!!

We could set up an account and have a treasurer, and not send money but order the parts and have them sent to the winner , in incriments once a certain aspect of the build is done etc.... is this a stupid idea???

I actually think it would be a good idea. The only problem is that we all think we should deserve to win. So everyone will probably vote for themselves . Maybe start with a voting of what car they would like to see done and have a vote for that make and model from the forum.:dunno:

How about have a shop to build a car that we vote on what kind of car to build,an vote on the parts that would be installed.
Might try to get some of our sponcers to put up some of the parts that would go on the car.
The shop could build at cost !

just a thought!!

It would be cool to get someone to donate a car, a shop to donate time and labor, sponsors to donate parts. Everyone could vote on the direction the car takes and donate some money for parts that have to be purchased or beer and pizza for the shop guys. In the end the car should be given away to a military member that gets a limb blown off by an IED. Those guys come back, spend months in rehab, and get fired from thier job because they aren't serviceable with a missing foot. I would rather see that than anything.

I say that we get all that want to donate and then do one mod we want to see on one car then a different mod on another. Since some cars will need different things. See, my car doesnt need toomuch. Maybe tubular front control arms and a brake upgrade all around. Some others may need paint, or a tranny, or interior, but you get the idea. I like the suggestion of sending them the parts and getting a update once a week.

It's something that's been thought about here a few times. Raffle off tickets, get sponsors to help with the parts, send some money to charity and pick a winner. We could do it some day.

Let Me know Larry!!
We would be interested in it if we can work the detail out!!
I really like the Vett. idea. Would be cool to give something back to them for what they have given!

I have a few places in mind. One is about 1 mile from my day job. It's an old friend and that might be the site of our future Pro-Touring.com official garage for testing and installs. It's still just a thought.

I agree with many of you and your suggestions but would like to see a car that doesn't get much attention built. Camaros, Mustangs, Chevelles and so on have been done. Why not something that doesn't come to mind often as far as a Pro-Touring build is concerned. Mid to late 70s early 80s or a vehicle not caught up in the moment right now. Camaros will never die. Mopars are at the top of their game right now. And there are a few badass Mustangs being built so why not a ride no one would normally consider. Then unavail it at a sow like SEMA and show what a site like this could produce with the help of its members and sponsors. Just my 2 cents.

If you guy's build a pro-touring.com car then it would essentially have to be at the top of it's game to represent this site at SEMA. It is the same reason why Stielow's car is...yup, you guessed it a Camaro. If it doesn't get the majority of people's blood pumping, don't bother doing it to represent your name. Hence the Optima's issue at hand.

Nobody thinks of GN's as pro-touring. But like it was said, has to be top of its game. And i like driving mine too much to make it so pristine that i would be afraid to take it to work.

If were going to unveil any PRO-TOURING.COM car at SEMA it should be Larry's. How much work is left on your car Larry?

If we want to pick something different, then maybe a Javelin? I was looking for one but could never find one that wasn't rusted to death.
Or perhaps if we want to do something crazy, Australia has some cool musclecars from Ford Holden and Chrysler...
